Just gonna chime in on the gif thing. I'm outright opposed to moving gifs as avatars. It's distracting, completely unnecessary, and makes pages a minefield in terms of loading. I didn't like embedded YouTube vids on the old forum, and I'm pretty sure moving avatars would make me either abandon these forums or never check the posts outside of a single thread like I did on the old forums.

I pressed Kudos on that post, even though it didn't do anything. Thought you should know.

Kudos only work on selected game forums. The off-topic and general sections are Kudo-free zone. :robotwink:

Re: How to have a custom avatar

I'm quite confused. My avatar was removed, but i received no message saying so. I've put it back now as It doesn't violate any of the rules and i've not been told why it was removed.

Re: How to have a custom avatar

It was most likely the wrong size. It has to be exactly 120x120.

Re: How to have a custom avatar

It was 100x100, as I use the same image on another forum.

Re: How to have a custom avatar

The rules state specifically that the avatar will be rejected if it isn't 120x120. Maybe add some whitespace or something?

Re: How to have a custom avatar

Well, it wasn't immediatey rejected, as It was there for a good 2-3 hours. It has also been around for much longer than that since I re-uploaded it.

I'm assuming because of that, it wasn't rejected due to size.

Re: How to have a custom avatar

[ Edited ]

Your avatar hasn't been viewable to anyone but you at any time, because it has never been approved. You can see it, but we can only see a placeholder image.

There is no automatic system to accept or reject images -- it is all done manually, and so you had to wait those 2-3 hours until someone could look at it and check the dimensions.

As of writing this message, your avatar hasn't been reassessed, and so you're the only one who can see it. But if it is 100x100 then it will be rejected a second time.

Re: How to have a custom avatar

Why on earth reject avatars under the size limit? Size limits are normally there to speed up page loading and so that they don't drastically alter the page layout when too large. It seems completely absurd to remove ones under the size limit.
