Is this true Codemasters what I read here?
The other big omission is Destruction Derby mode. Yes, it was great fun in GRID, but you can play DiRT Showdown for that now. 'But it's not the same!' you're probably thinking and you're right. We'll miss it too. But the argument from the team is that all the destruction and close racing is present in the street racing anyway. And one of the few criticisms we have of the first game is that some of the modes were under-developed, destruction derby included. But that's not going to happen here – everything that's in is going to be done properly.
**************************************************
Showdown figure 8 racing is no where near GRID derby racing online!!!! Takes 10-12 players to have a rip roaring good time in GRID derby racing. Showdown only has 8 players or less!!!! Need to have 8 or 12 lap races. Showdown only has 5 laps and can not change the lap count!!!! In GRID you can wreck your car in a derby race, race is over, no first place for you.
In Showdown, if wreck car, you respawn in a new car
, that not derby racing!!!!
Final point, you can't have a rip roaring good time in a GRID derby race online unless you have some good wreckers to make it a challenge to win a race. No reverse racing in showdown!!!! So where is GRID derby racing in DIRT Showdown??????????????????????????????????????????
I have spent 4 hours at a time derby racing with GRID and working up a sweat. You take away derby racing from GRID 2, were the wreckers going to go? If you get a wrecker in a GRID 2 race now, you can't tell him to go DD in a derby race instead.
If Codemasters had done DIRT Showdown right, then Codies could make this argument. But seem the devs at Codemasters never did any GRID derby racing online to see what made GRID derby racing special. Derby racing is the second most pick tournament after touring cars online.
Without derby racing, GRID 2 is not a buy on release day.
Codemasters, if you are not going to give us derby racing in GRID 2, could you at least fire up the GRID online servers for the PC and PS3 so we can GRID derby race online again? Please.

I disagree with the assumption that having no derby racing will ruin the game and make all the rammers go to actual lobbies. Whilst it is a disappointing omission. You have to look at the direction codies have seem to have taken with the game. Street racing and actual circuit racing. Destruction derby's don't really fall into either

WHAT. I loved that game mode, had some great fun on it in the past.

I thought Codemasters would like to make a good profit with GRID 2. Taking out one the most popular race modes in GRID, does not sound like a wise decision. There a lot of Flatout fans waiting to buy a good derby racing game. DIRT Showdown was not that game!!!!
Part of the appeal of GRID is it gave the player a variety of races to tryout. Seem GRID 2 getting away from this. ![]()

But the storyline of Grid 1 was about being a Driver, on hire for any discipline. I too am a bit dissapointed its not confirmed , Derby was the fun part of Grid, a break from edge of the seat wheel gripping adrenaline rush, a time for a beer
hmm, it was probably the only race I won when drunk lol..
So wheres the fun coming from?, I hope there is a collisions on- full damage anything goes mode so we can make our own derby's.

I'm a tad dissapointed about the loss, but come on... it's not like we can't just wreck each other for fun (in a controlled environement) online. Demo Derby was great fun, agreed, but I've had pleanty of nights of Racing, that end up as a drunken mash and bash with friends.
the game will be great with or without Demo Derby

the old demo derby in fact is lost, because grid2 will not have and showdown is not what was inside grid1.
This is another lucky grid1 feature completely missing..
