They may record the actual cars in testing but it seems that something is getting lost in editing. On board sound from real cars sound different to the sound in-game. Its still not quite right, to me.
Next year I want authentic sound, with the gear change clunks and over-run of the engines under braking.
Get rid of the constant tyre squeal and silly KERS sound.
Something i hate about replay videos, and its even in the above video, is the fade in and out of the sound of the cars. It sounds unrealistic, and there should still be an audible ambiance sound.
Switching between T-cam and cockpit view should have a realisticly different sound

yes, we are all aware of the fact that they recorded actual f1 cars. we are also aware of the fact that whoever was in charge of the sound still managed to make a mess of it. just because they sampled real sounds doesnt mean much because the formula raceroom video sounds more like the real thing than CMs "real" sounds.

I'm sorry they do not sound better or more realistic. They just sound like they have more added bass and a higher DB.That kind of sound could never be imported to sorrund sound. Codies is better.

I think what Codies need to stop doing is trying to replicate on-board sound with off-board replay sound. That is why it sounds off in replays the onboard sounds are good enough. What Codies need to do is replicate better "ambient" F1 Engine sound. IE How the sound jumps off and echoes from buildings and objects, if they could "set up" one sound guy for every inch of a track... straight and corner with some good sound equipment for "continuous synchronized recording" this could be achieved no problem without any clipping in the sound and it would be cost effective easy to equalize, manage the sound to "clean it" & would import amazingly onto AC3 standard Dolby. Here are some sounds from youtube this is NOT my video.
