F1 2012 – Wheel Settings (Setup Tips and Advice)

Hey everyone,

This topic has been started so the community can share their current wheel settings for F1 2012. If you think you’ve found the perfect setup for your wheel then feel free to share it! We're looking to build a great list of settings here that build a more comprehensive picture of the optimum settings for each individual wheel.

We’d also like to share our own advised wheel settings for F1 2012. These should provide a good overall baseline setup for most wheels.

Advanced wheel settings

Steering deadzone – 1%

Steering Saturation – 5%

Steering Linearity – 4%

Throttle deadzone – 0%

Throttle saturation - 0%

Brake deadzone – 0% (2% if using load cell brakes)

Brake saturation – 0% (10% if using load cell brakes)

Force feedback options

Environmental effects – 20%

Feedback strength – 100%

Wheel weight – 10%

Let us know how you find them and feel free to share your own settings. Don’t forget to mention what wheel you’re using!

Thanks for that, will give it a go tonight. Out of interest, if they are the reccomended settings for most wheels, why are they not the default settings?

Also for Fanatec, what sen setting is that based on?

Re: F1 2012 – Wheel Settings (Setup Tips and Advice)

Official Microsoft wheel. - everything set to default with the exception of steering liniarity which I have at 40%. It feels the same in corners as default but you lose the twitchy handling down the straights and you can hold a better line through long bends.

Also while on topic of wheels I noticed an increase in force feedback at certain points of the track, most notably the second long straight in Abu dabi where it kicks in for a brief moment before going back to normal, and this is every single lap. A bug or just the fact the force feedback wasn't completed in time for the demo. Either way just thought I would mention it.

Everything on 0%, it seems to handle fine on its own. :smileyhappy:

F1 2011 only: +2% brake deadzone (slipstream bug). Make sure the brake and accelerator says "reverse axis" in controls, otherwise they're extremely sensitive.

Re: F1 2012 – Wheel Settings (Setup Tips and Advice)

The team have been using the following sensitivity levels.

270 for Fanatecs

240ish for Logitech’s

I hope that helps! :smileyhappy:

On my Fanatec CSR, I have;

Advanced wheel settings

Steering deadzone – 1%
Steering Saturation – 0%
Steering Linearity – 20%
Throttle deadzone – 0%
Throttle saturation - 0%
Brake deadzone – 2%
Brake saturation – 15%

Force feedback options

Environmental effects – 100%
Feedback strength – 100%
Wheel weight – 50%

And then on wheel;

sens 270
ff 100
sho 100
dri 3
lin 0
dea 0
spr 3
drp - 3

Seems to work OK

Re: F1 2012 – Wheel Settings (Setup Tips and Advice)

Hi guys, im using the official microsoft wheel (old one), and I just can't get the settings right. With the pad the cornering is perfect but with the wheel it just has no grip, especially braking for the paribolica. Perfect with the pad, but I have to brake to a crawl (as Petrov cruises past). Anyone got any ideas or having the same issue.
