F1 2012 – General Discussion

Hi all. 

Don't get me wrong, I am loving this game despite the bugs and issues I have faced. Experienced the engine smoke and engines blowing thing, but now brake longer before downshifting and that appears to have done the trick. 

I am using the Fanatec CSR wheel and the FFB is for the worse. Not good. I have had a quick reply from CMs though who I hope will now look into it. The FFB just seems weak compared to 2011. No real vibration on kerbs etc.

But regarding all the bugs that are being experienced and listed. Drive thru pens, weather system etc. What on earth were the beta testers doing? They must have experienced the same?? One only has to play the game for a couple hours to experience them? 

Still I think the game has improved. The racing is more realistic. Although I just qualified in pole on professinal in my first race in a williams? But there again Maldonado was on the front row this weekend!! LOL

if they shot all the beta testers there would be no one to buy the game as it seems we are the testers..

I am having fun with the game, but the removal of features and the bugs..well..what can i say that hasn't already been said..

I honestly don't believe there are any testers.

If we can buy the game, get home and discover HUGE flaws and bugs within an hour of driving,  how would someone who find bugs for their JOB simply not find these after month and months of testing?  No its not possible that they can be so incompetent and still keep their jobs.

Simple Fact:  CM have NO testers,  we test it but we also PAY to test it!

We're not only beta testers, we're mugs too, for throwing money at them year after year when all they deliver is frustration and disappointment.

I would not blame the testers guys. A lot of the time Alpha and beta testers are given specific things to trial and look for on a deadline  and not always with the full game available. Without knowing the facts I would not place the blame here. The blame is probably more to do with the amount of time given to testing and the test objectives rather than the testers themselves.

My sentiment exactly. I wonder what type of method they use pick out their beta testers. I emailed them offering my services for FREE just to make sure this game would be awesome. I received no answer and we've been delivered a genuine piece of SH*T

Cevert, there are testers, they advertised vacancies for them before F1 2011 came out, I applied, thankfully I rejected the offer of an interview.

For proof of how bad those who got the job are, just look at previous Codies games (both Op Flash games, Bodycount, and now 2012).

I personally had no problem with 2011, the improvements were far greater then the areas they screwed up. 2012 is a joke, I use a pad and cannot push the way I want too with the game deciding when I can and cannot turn in. To hell with the Austin time trial achievement.

This is a mistake I will not be repeating. Two games I wanted this year, F1 and Hitman, I fear what Hitman may be like now.

We are the Beta Testers. Its time to put an end to this folly. No F12012 for me, thank-you guys for beta testing & posting your findings, you've saved me $100 & alot of disappointment.

The only way Bugmasters will stop treating their customers in such a shabby way is to send them a message loud & clear that to release games in such a state is totally unacceptable.

How? Do not preorder or purchase F12013 on release day, & not at all if its not up to scratch. A huge dip in sales will make them sit up & take notice, when their jobs are on the line, & so they should be.

You can cause a huge dip in sales by shouting from the rooftops that CM's F1 titles are to be avoided at all cost. Say this on any forums you are a member of. Tell your friends & aquaintances. If you see someone in a store looking at this game, go up to them & tell them its a mess & is to be avoided. You will be doing them a favour. In this manner, if enough of us do this, we can cause a loss of thousands of sales. At $100 each this will be a substantial sum. Be the stone thrown in the water & watch the ripples you make.

Chen, the issue is they will market it well enough that more people will be duped into buying it. I wasn't going near 2012 after 11, differences were not big enough to justify it, then they released a nice shiny demo and sucked me in.

Will not be repeating this mistake, funding someones lavish lifestyle by buying a broken game is unnacceptable. We won't get any answers anytime soon, the next patch will address nothing important other than visual changes. I doubt if we even go to Watchdog (BBC) we will get anything, actually, why not.

They talk about Understeer being an issue just after the game comes out, meaning they knew about it didn't bother fixing it, it's laziness. I miss the days before online gaming, I miss the days when developers HAD to get it right as they had no chance to rectify mistakes. Now they can release a broken product and fix it later.

The news about how Microsoft chanrges for Patches, they simply don't charge enough. £400,000 a time instead of £40,000 will force them to fix it before release.

Unfortunately I think you're right.
What can you do? You buy any game that turns out to be rubbish, nobody has any means of redress against the developers. The money is already in their pocket, and they must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Add to that it's the only F1 licence, we all want it to be succesful, THE one that they got right, so we pay our money out. We trust them to sort it out; I think someone else said that CM must be lazy - I have to agree - surely their first aim after last year was to fix the problems that were left. But no, take a few bits out, change the clothing of the game, and pump it out again, 'they will fall for it every time'. And we do.

**bleep** shame, as I still think it is the best effort yet, but in it's current state, it is the best EVER unfinished F1 game. It gets hold of Geoff Crammonds F1 series by the throat, holds it face down in the toilet, easily woops it's *&^&, but then has a panic attack & collapses, and Geoff walks away laughing. Yet again. lol.

So far, History is repeating itself again - I just hope and pray when they patch it, they leave it in a better state than 2011. This year we won't have the luxury of choosing not to use the patch, as Steam will insist on it.

And the saddest part of all - there are thousands upon thousands of us who would willingly beta test it for free.

kmw, that is the only advantage of consoles, we can remove patches if we want too, you guys are stuck with it.

As childish as it looks, I was actually considering F1 Race Stars, not a chance in hell will I go anywhere near it after this.
