Race Driver 3 PC Install Error

Hi Guys,

Just received my shiny new copy of Race Driver 3 in the post this morning, stuck it in the drive and tried to install it, midway though the install it's just jamming with a window saying 9/43 and that's it, it just stays there and nothing else happens. Really deflated as I've waited months for this!

Spec is P4 3.6, Geforce 6600, 2GB Ram, XP Pro SP2. Latest Nvidea drivers

Anyone else had this problem?

i've installed my copy on two different machines and never had any problems. are you sure the installation doesn't proceed if you wait a bit longer? it does take some time...

Hi,

I've had the same problem, it was at 37/43, i've waited about 20 minutes and nothing appened. So I killed the process, which were about 99% of CPU, and the installation finished.
The game works, so I don't know what this part of the installation is used for.

Yep I killed the process and the install continued but the game crashes when you launch a race, just says rd3.exe generated errors :-(

I have the exact same problem Adster, installs fine then halts at 9/43 and goes no further!

Specs: Athlon64 3200, 2gig ram, Xp Pro, GeForce 7800GT OC 256mb...

This is a worry, doesn't even sound like our PC's have anything in common so I wonder what might be causing this, hope it's not a batch of duff DVD's.....

Do you use Deamon Tools by any chance?

Just spoken to Codemasters, they said that other people had reported this and asked me to email custservice@codemasters.com with a dxdiag saved report so they can start gathering statistics on any similarities to help them fix it so if you can all do that then maybe they will look into it a.s.a.p. I'll let you know if they get back to me with anything.

First time I tried installing it, it got to 6/43 and hung. So I ended that particular programme and then cancled the install. So I started installing it again and it installed fine.

Shame about some errors such as when it crashes when racing on the first go-kart track with practice.

Abort, Restart Machine and Install new...
The Second Try evertime goes on ...
