Angry Menus cook the CPU

ok, so this is a little odd. The demo works fine, but while not racing (i.e. in the menus etc), it works the CPU to the point that it starts to overheat (warnings kick in when it goes above 75 C). The temperature drops back to hot, but ok, during game play. Why does it overheat during the menus?

Nothing else on the system gets the temp so high (e.g. 4 hrs of video encoding does not push it above 60 C). Also, everything, including Force Feedback works fine.

System:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
2 x 512 Mb RAM
GForce 6800 GT
Gigabyte NForce 3 mobo
200Gb SATA H/Disk
Logitech MOMO FF wheel.

Buy your self a new cpu fan and heatsync 60 to 75 C way to hot !. My P4 Prescott used to run 65 to 90 C under load. I replaced the stock heatsync and fan and it now runs between 34 TO 50 C.
I dont no why but the GPU on my "Gainward 6800 ultra" tends to overheat on the menus on Racedriver 3 and Colin Mcrea 2005.

System.
P4 3.40
2.00 GB of Ram
Gainward 6800 ultra
SB Audigy 2
Win XP home SP2

While certainly some good advice, and something I'm already looking at, I think you missed the point. It's the menus that push the heat way over the top. Shouldn't it actually cool down during menus, when the system is basically doing nothing but waiting for user input?

As a systems programmer, it worries me when a menu runs so much hotter than the process intensive game itself ? btw my Sparkle 688GT sits around the 70 C throughout.

Heat will always be a problem on my system in a hot Aussie summer, where the ambient in my games room often runs over 30C ... it's just something I have to live with it.

Yea, tempreture is just as much an issue for me in a Cold Wet Welsh Winter.
It is strange that it should be more of a issue on the menus and it would be nice to get an answer but it seems to be one of them funny little problems that will only happen to a few of us and will probably never get resolved.
