Default Help, gota couple of questions about online plah

Okay first of all, I don't have a headset yet, but i'm hearing voices on my t.v speaker. These voices sound ALL the same to me, but with different accents. It sounds like there is a bee inside their throat! It is really annoying, and i'm wondering if i get the headset will i be hearing their regular voices instead of the annoying bee sound voices? Help!

Also, the acceleration on the ps2 controller can get quite annoying. The pressure sensitivity is really hurting my thumb, so i'm wondering if I get the wheel for the ps2, you think this will help me a lot better?

Yes and yes. If you buy a headset everyone's voices is much clearer. Buying a wheel gives you more control over throttle and brake response.

So the voice doesn't sound like there is a pilllow over their mouth? Like a muffled sound? Also, i will buy the headset now but i heard the regular headset for ps2 is not good. I saw a logitec one for 19.99, a nice headset with microphone, you think that'll be okay? I want to hear clear voices, and not all the voices sounding the same

I bought my headset for £20 including a game. The one i have is very clear and you can easily hear different people's voices.

On the pressure sensitivty of the acceleration button (X) . I tried adjusting it so i could get max acceleration without having to press the x button so hard, my thumb would get blisters! I think i will try setting the acceleration to one of the L or R buttons, I dun't think they have any pressure sensitivity on that. I think i'll have to get a wheel with pedals, the controller is not so fun, the wheels will make it more realistic i believe

Talking

Hi art. We were wandering what you were doing last night. (Guessing you were the same ARTSEURO that was in a UKOG room with a Korean flag next to your name) We were calling you and no answer then after a couple of races you timed out.
The comms thing is easily sorted by buying socom 2 with the head set included. I got it quite cheap (£17) before socom 3 was out so it should be even cheaper now and the headset is a good quality Logitec one with volume control and a long lead.
I sympathise with the thumb accelerator thing. I have been playing Toca games for about 8 years now and have developed what I call "Toca thumb" it's a callous in the crook of my thumb where I use it for accelerating. Getting a wheel (Logitec Driving Force Pro seems best) is an obvious solution but that is quite expensive. If you can't stretch to the cost of a wheel then try changing your accelerator/brake control to the right thumbstick. A lot of people do that with good effect.
Until you get comms mate a good idea when you enter a lobby is to go to the chat section and just type in a hello and explain that you cannot hear us properly. I typed a message to you last night just to say we were having a smoke break between races but you didn't type back so I'm assuming you didn't know there was a chat section. When in the lobby just press circle and in the list of options you'll see "CHAT" select that and use your D pad to write a text message to the room. (Or a usb keyboard if you've got one)
Come back and find us another evening and I'll be happy to help you out maybe you'll even race next time. LOL

UKOG JOHN.

Save a thumb, use a wheel!

The best wheel value still has to be the GT3 wheel. You can buy refurbs for next to nothing, with a warranty. Its main advantage is it has large, easy to find paddles, the Pro does not. Overall, the Logitech Pro is better quality, though, except for the flakey pedals. Don't worry about the 900* steering with ToCA 3.

You should also be able to find some Logitech two-ear headsets for very little, too. Hearing voice in both ears really helps. Mine were about $10CDN and I've seen them here for $8CDN, at discounters. If you also need a quiet playroom, use earbuds under the headphones, for the background and engine noise. Using the headphones to keep the earbuds in place does away with needing ear tape (al la real racers).
