Weird dark characters...

It happened after I entered the cave at Winterheights. It lagged extremely. After I got what I wanted from that cave I exited again with some 'steering'. But it still lagged, so I re-logged. Everything went smooth again.. until, all characters turned black. ...Well not entirely.. you still can see some colours.. so just very VERY dark. The odd thing is on some surfaces (or none at all, when jumping) this effect is gone and I see the normal character. But most of the time it's like the screens below... and not only Player Characters but also NPCs.

And yes, I have the latest graphics drivers for my Sapphire Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB.....

This looks very much like a graphics driver issue, but I not what you said about having updated. When you updated did you first uninstall old drivers?

In addition have you been through the options and checked the brightness, gamma and contrast settings?

Also have you checked the 3D settings in Catalyst Control centre?

Edit: I thought this looked familiar and I've just remembered why - it happened to me when I updated my Catalyst drivers to 7.1 from 6.something and I hadn't remembered to clean out the 6.x drivers from my machine. Ijust completely removed all the drivers, rebooted and reinstalled catalyst.

You know.. strange as it it.. now I restarted my PC (I've gone to bed and now I start playing again).. all is back to normal... =/ Ah well..
I freshly installed windows a couple of weeks ago.. with the driver and extras from the CD (some dual screen tools I might need, who knows) and then updated with 7.2

Okay I completely reinstalled my display drivers, but still I get this problem!
It's something I cannot reproduce and appears on different places. When it kicks in, I get a lagfest until I restart the game. When I return the effect is still there, but no lag. I only get rid of it, by restarting the computer.

I got settings to max all the way, running 1600x1200.
I used a separate high res file, as it isn't included in the downloaded client. May this be the problem? because I've never encountered this problem during beta.

I'll try not the highest res textures and see if it reappears.

I have the same problem. Additionaly the game gets lagy even keyboard takes 0.5 - 1 sec to react.

Configuration quite same:

phew, i think is not a driver problem

try turn off the shader option, its can help

This error was first time in wow with Anub'Rekhan too.

I had this problem happen once, it went away after I alt tabbed out of the game and went back into it. Have x1950 pro too.

I've Logged in and out a couple of times since and he hasnt re-occured....yet anyway.

It seems that I don't have this problem with the "high" textures.. only with "ultra high".. at least it didn't happen yet, after I turned the texture to high and renamed the high res data file.

Mind you I got the downloaded client. The high res file was added afterwards, with a file I downloaded separately.
