Question Demo problem - ADVAPI32.dll

Hi all, I'm having problems getting the demo to run.

First of all I got the XINPUT9_1_0.dll error.

No dramas, I installed the latest DirectX offering and ran Microsoft update to makes sure my system was current.

Then I discovered a patch was available for the demo, so I downloaded and installed that as well.

Cool, everything should be fine.

Now when I try to run the demo I get the following error, (less the quotes).

"The procedure entry point TraceMessage could not be located in the dynamic link library ADVAPI32.dll"

ADVAPI32.dll is present on my system.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Is your Windows up to date? SP2?

You should also post your system specs

It certainly is.

As mentioned in my original post I've installed the latest DirectX and ran Microsoft update. ;-)

System specs are as follows.

Software: Windows 2k, (Service Pack 4 + latest updates), DirectX 9.0c (most recent version), Latest Nvidia graphics drivers.
Hardware: Athlon XP 2500+ @ 400 FSB (Barton), Nvidia Geforce 7600GS 256mb (AGP 8X), 1GB Corsair Ram (matched pair - dual channel).

A fairly old system to be sure, (saving up for a new system later this year), but still runs Obllivion and Gothic 3 reasonably well, (with a few tweaks that is).

Cheers.

Indeed, aren't I a fool then?

I really should have read the system specs prior to attempting to run it.

Nevertheless, I guess I'll need to upgrade my OS for many of the newer games eventually. An OEM version with my next hardware purchase seems to be the most likely option.

Cheers.
