Possible win2k fix

After searching for several hours i found a post relating to jade empire, a bioware game. the origional link is http://jade.bioware.com/forums/viewt...forum=108&sp=0

the important text, if unable to get to that link, is :

ok, here is what you're gonna have to do:

install the game and directx 9.0c
go to your DVD-Drive, open the folder DirectX and Unzip the cab Oct2005_xinput_x86.cab to your system32-folder in your windows-system-folder.
open xinput9_1_0.dll with an editor, search for "TraceMessage", and overwrite it with "GetUserNameA", save it, close it.

Kudos to TrickArgl.

(note, tested myself, it did load, not sure how... stable... it will be, however, and i assume you wont be able to use the xlive controller since thats what the edit changes)

Edit: was able to play through the beat the jester "tutorial", didnt notice any problems. It does Generate an errror upon exiting the game... but thats no big deal compared to not bein able to play at all!

Well I look on my DVD for thie DirectX folder and did not see one, but I went ahead and looked for the file. I found that and did the edit, but it did not work for me.

try using hexedit (free hex editer) to do the editing... if that doesnt work, what error are you getting?
