Default Point blank and sneak attack at range

A small suggestion from someone with a ranged rogue (i know its gimped).
it is currently very hard to see when you are within 30ft of a mob. it would be very useful if there was some indication when you are within sneak attack/point blank (the feat) range of a mob.
this could either be via a symbol on the focus orb or some kind of changing cursor based on your distance that could be activated with the UI settings so that toons with no interest in range would not have to be subjected to it.

Would be nice, but as a general indicator also showing if you get flanking bonus (thereby also sneak attacks) in melee.

/signed - I have a ranger/rogue, but find it difficult to judge when I will get ranged sneak attack...it often seems a bit arbitrary.

And would be rather easy to implement I guess...

Not necessarily.
There's a big difference between now just having to calculate the position towards a mobs when a shot/blow is made, compared to doing it constantly to update a cursor. So unless you do it entirely client-side, thereby inaccurate compared to the "real" situation, it could make a massive strain on the server. So essentially it could be an "impossible" task

Even seemingly small things can grow large very fast, which is why guessing on the difficulty of a given task is often wrong.

Still it would be easy to implement, but of course you are right, the amount of additional workload might be an issue if it´s done on the server side.

client side is probably good enough for this, its more a visual indication of how far 30' is than a 100% water proof can-i-sneak-yet indicator. were all used to getting sync issues and we'd not notice if this feature was affected in the same way all our other attacks are when we loose sync.

definitely better to have a roughly accurate indicator than no indicator or a 100% accurate lag generator (not just rogues, anyone with sneak on a weapon would be loading up the lag)

What is the problem with checking for the juicy additional damage in the red damage numbers above the mobs head? The 50-70+ damage should be easy to distinguish in the damage number sequence. To spend time changing the UI for ranged rogues only is in my opinion a bit of a waste of recources, especially when this is already evident.
