Default Dual Wielding +Targeting

-------------------------Dual Wielding
After the update of the 4 weapon setups going to 7, i thought i would not have to worry anymore.

None the less i find that no matter how many setups we get there will still be a problem.

I was thinking of how to propose a proper solution to that, something that will not strain the server, but will be easy to use.

At first what i propose is the ability to set a weapon with Primary hand or off hand properties.

It can be added next to the lock icon in the back pack and hence when using double clicking in the back pack it goes straight to the off hand slot. Of course since the properties remain there the same happens when we click a weapon from the quick bar.

The default could be Primary hand, for all the weapons.

Now in order not to cause extra strain to the servers, the settings of the weapons could be saved in a txt file in the client's computer.

I am not aware of the security risks something like that could create for both the server and/or the client but in the end this could be a client only feature that the server is not even aware of.

The reason for requesting something like this is that as a dual wielding fighter i find myself asking people what kind of enemies we are about to fase. so that I can prepare in the 7 slots my of handed weapons.

In case i find that something doesnt work i have to go off battle for a while to set up a new slot from the beggining. This takes time, and it is also very froustrating. As you can understand for the wide range of different foes that exist in the game there is no perfect combination of weapons.

-------------------------Targeting
Is it possible to create a targeting system in a party? Something that will allow all the party members to know which foe everyone in the party is targeting? That way with a mouse click we can all target the same enemy.

This could help in both PvP and PvE.

You can fill the seven preset slots only with an off hand weapon and use the hotbar slot for your main hand weapons.

The way to do this is by filling the seven weapon set slots with one wand which has almost no charges left, use the same wand for all seven slots. Afther that put in a differend off-hand weapon in each of the seven weapon set slots. Use up that last charge of the wand you put in the main hand and voila, off-hand weapons only in your weapon sets.

To overcome that you have to ask which weapons you have to use at the start of every quest is useing general purpose weapons. Acid of pure good goes a long way. Another nice combo is holy burst of maiming. But you do need a lot of STR of course for that. If your a High Dex, Low Str, finesse type of ranger then you'll keep haveing a hard time.

I'm like Iron Clad!

A fierce warrior up for any challenge, you will never back down from a fight. You are an honorable combatant, but that does not mean you are above deriving pleasure from the defeat of your adversaries.

that is not really a solution but a work around.

Also only for people that can use wands.

Myself i am a fighter(17 str, 17 dex, 12 con, dwarf) and i am not able to use any wands. Plus this will have to happen before any dungeon! Also do not forget that sometimes (at least i do it) i set heavy weapons as off hand weapons, eg a D axe as an off hand etc.

there is also the problem that i have more that 7 off handed weapons. We all know there is no best off hand.

As a suggestion i believe it is something most people will enjoy since dual wielding is not so rare. Also it will help a lot and may even make the weapon slots useless.

Actualy when I think about the 4 slots we had before and the no slots at all before that, I find 7 awesome ;D

Lets hope they'll raise it to 10 or something...

Umm, I don't get this. It's utterly unnecessery. If you have 2 weapons readied and you click on a weapon on your hotbar (or even in the backpack), you'll switch that weapon into your main hand, but the weapon in the left hand remains there. So it doesn't matter if that main hand-slot is a wand or empty or whatsoever.

Anyway, this doesn't solve the problem at all. The problem is, that there's no way to have more than 7 weapons that can be put into your offhand quickly. You can only use the 7 weapon sets for that. Well, as for me, 7 is quite good. If you wan't to have maximum efficiency in every battle, even 20 sets wouldn't be enough. There are times when you have to be satisfied with the good old acid+pure good whatever. Or SoS. :-)

I agree that 7 slots is alot better than 4, but as the OP said, it's not always enough

I can think of two ways to make this easier, and possibly the best one is to get a key binding to equip a wep in your off hand. So when you press a button at the same time as you equip a wep either by double clicking or using the quickbar it equips in your offhand....

the other one would be quickbars that could be designated to offhand weapons, so any weapon put in there would equip in your offhand when selected....

anyways, 7 slots have helped alot, but it can't cover all situations

Easy work around for that is buy a wooden club from the simple weapon vendor, and do exactly like Lightbear suggested, then remove the club from your inventory by either destroying it, selling it, or trading it, You have 7 weapons for your off hand, that should give you plenty of choice. And using a medium sized weapon in your off hand is not a great idea, but each to their own.
