Microsoft Sidewinder FF Wheel

Hello,

after trying the RD3-Demo I recognized, that there is the same bug in RD3, that is in RD2 since 2 years. If you use Force Feedback with a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel und you have installed Service Pack 2, the game freezes every minute for several seconds. In RD2 there is the same bug, which occured after installing the Service Pack 2.
This error is only in RD2 and now in RD3, the Colin McRae Series (also from CODEMASTERS) GTR and several other Racinggames run without problem.

So Codemasters, please fix this Bug, or I will buy GT-Legends.

I have that problem in 1,2 and 3 (demo). It's really annoying, I can't be fast enough with keyboard against steeringwheel. People will always be faster with wheel, but don't want to buy a new wheel allready because it works very well and there has to be another way to fix this.

I just cant understand why this problem only exists in the DTM Racing Series.
There MUST be a bug in the ForceFeddback ROutines !!!!

Thanks to a German contributor, the problem is solved!!!!
It is a priority problem in Windows XP, and the solution is described (in German!) in another post.

I will try to translate it in English:

As said it is a priority problem.

1. open the shortcut to the game, (right click, properties)
2. under Goal is the path to RD3.exe: add this before the path:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /c start "" /abovenormal "

exactly as it is hier, with all the characters, and you will then always start with a high priority and....bingo it works!

To be sure, your shortcut path should be

C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /c start "" /abovenormal "D:\TOCA3\RD3.exe That is D:\TOCA3\RD3.exe must correspond to your actual game path!

So, dann werde ich jetzt mal deutsch reden, liegt mir eh besser

Den Trick kenne ich, klappt auch zumindest fuer den Fahrmodus. Allerdings sind dann die Menus (in RD2 und in der RD3-Demo) nur noch sehr schlecht zu bedienen. Bei mir nimmt er in den Menus Tastatureingaben teilweise gar nicht mehr, teilweise mit 10 Sek. Verzoegerung, fast unbedienbar.

Ich versteh echt nicht, warum Codemasters die MAcke nicht einfach ausbauen...

und das besagte Microsoft SWFF

bei mir funktioniert alles einwandfrei. Versuch's mal mit ner Neuinstallation, vielleicht hilfts.

Nun, an meinem Rechner kanns eigentlich nicht liegen :

AMD64 3000+
1024 Mb Ram
ATI 9800 Pro
Soundblaster live

Ist die Prio auf normal, lassen sich auch die Menus normal bedienen
ist die Prio hoch, kommt es zu diesen Aussetzern in der Bedienung,
dafuer kann man dann ohne diese 5 Sek. langen Ruckler fahren.

Vielleicht bin ich ja ein bischen penetrant, aber vielleicht kann
mir mal jemand erklaeren, warum kein Rennspiel ausser der DTM
Serie dieses Problem mit SP2 und dem Microsoft FF Wheel hat. Nicht
mal die hauseigene Colin-McRae Spiele, die super laufen.

Installiert habe ich DTM2RD schon mindestens 3 Mal (jeweils Rechnerupgrade/Neues Motherboard). Das Problem ist aber hartnaeckig
und zumindest Motherboard/CPU/Ram-unabhaengig.

Ich habe genau das gleiche Problem mit meinem MS Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel!

Das Problem ist bei mir zum 1. mal aufgetaucht als ich im Dezember 2004 meinen Rechner aufgerüstet habe und SP2 dazu instaliert habe! (Ja, ich habe das Spiel auch nach 9 Monaten noch gespielt ;-), ok, ich war Rennfahrer in einer Liga)

Dieses Problem besteht auch heute noch! Dieser besagte Trick hilft zwar, kann aber nicht die Lösung sein!

Auf meinem Schlepptop läuft RD2 bzw. RD3 Demo ohne Probleme! Da verwende ich nur die Tastatur oder auch meinen MS Joystick! (Klingt zwar blöd, geht aber relativ gut :-D )

Mein PC:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+
1 Gig Speicher
ATI 850 XT PE (vorher 9600XT, auch mit dem Prob)
Windoofs XP Home mit SP2
Microsoft Force Feedback Wheel (USB)
Joa, der rest ist eigentlich unwichtig!

Probs bei Lenkrad!

Laptop:

Centrino 1,86 Ghz
1 Gig Speicher
ATI X700 Mobile
Windoofs XP Home mit SP2

Keine Probs (mit Tastatur/ Joystick)

Ich hatte eigentlich fest vor mir dieses Spiel wieder zu kaufen (als ehemaliger und hoffentlich bald wieder aktiver Rennfahrer) aber wenn das Problem immernoch nicht in Griff ist, werd ich mir das nochmal stark überlegen müssen! (ausser Codemasters spendiert mir ein neues Lenkrad ;-) )

Hehe Dj-MIKA,

Das das auf Deinem "Schlepptop" funzt liegt wohl daran, dass Du das Game nicht mit besagtem Wheel zoggst, sondern mit Tastatur oder Joystick.

Gebe Dir uneingeschränkt Recht, dass in Sachen Patch Codemasters einer der schlechtesten Spieleentwickler am Markt ist. Ist schon verwunderlich, dass man als GRAKA - Hersteller (ATI) die BUGS, die in RD2 vorhanden sind (9800PRO) mit entsprechend neuen Treibern lösen muss und das dies nicht von Codemasters in Form eines Patches geschieht.

Naja so sind se halt die Profitgeilen Säcke. :-)

Habe ja schon hier in dem Forum mehrfach geschrieben, dass der "Aftersales-service" bei Codemasters das allerletzte ist.

Bleibt abzuwarten, wie dich RD3 entwickelt, sonst was das letzte mal das ich von dem Laden irgendwas gekauft habe.
