Its quite possible the game mechanics have changed enough that it was necessary to reset everyone. Did anyone think of that?
I get that the achievements are important but if changing the game mechanics to make the game more fair, less exploitable, etc then everyone should have to start over.

I mean the 1.1 for PC changed the overall handling of the cars(no assists) so it had less under steer, technically we all should have been reset too because I know I got faster.

I agree with you.

Get over it, it's only a label and it don't mean ****, it doesn't show if your a good driver or not.

Hi all,
Given the number of reports we've had of people abusing the ranking system to get unfair ranks, it was only fair that we did a reset.

It's never an easy decision to make, and we'd rather it hadn't come to this, but changes in the patch should make gaining those ranking points back fairer.

We'd like to think that people play online for the fun of it, not so much the amassing of points, but if you find yourself in this sort of situation, it's the fairest solution.

I've liked this game from day one,,, but as I said in another thread I wanted a reset of the leaderboards, I also knew of players that had gained ranks by playing to the games flaws, that's the main reason I stopped, I decided to wait for the patch to see what was changed, I do feel for the players that gained their ranks legit, but, I'm happy I held off until after the patch.

Thanks for the fyi, RFT.

While I appreciate the time/ effort to fill us in, your answer didn't answer much.

How is one player's rank unfair to another?

There aren't a limited number of high ranks; they're not gonna run out. Kick-votes don't count more, the higher your rank is. A player's rank is not unfair to anyone else in anyway. If anything, the chuckleheads who can't drive and got their ranks by glitching do the lower-rank players a favor: a lower-rank player who even kinda knows what they're doing is gonna earn more OXP for beating a higher-rank who 'glitched their way to the top'.

Not that it will make any impact, but just as an FYI right back atcha Codemasters: CM is now a used-bin-only developer. This entire release/ patch experience has been a debacle. Overlord 2? GRID2? $20 or less.

Last thing- to those who post just to berate and deride others:

So, you don't think Achievements and Rank are important / worthwhile? Fair enough, you don't need to bother with 'em then eh? Personally, I don't 'play for Acheivements', its a stupid idea. But I do enjoy a lil' personal 'yay for me' moment when I 'achieve' / accomplish something that was difficult for me to do. Achievements? Yes. Gamerscore / points- not even a lil' bit. Which is why I'm pi$$ed about the rank reset. Rank (just like Assissts, Livery, Demolition Derby, LeMans, etc.) is a 'fun-piece'; something that isn't necessarily 'all about the race', but it adds to the suspension of disbelief that you ARE a world-class racecar driver, not JohnQPublic sittin' on his couch. Not important to you? cool. FYI- this thread wasn't about 'things in the game some people like but others don't". In the future, if all you've got to bring to the table is unconstructive criticism and derision.... liyf, don't bother. Just take your toys and go home.

To everyone else,

take it easy.

As an elder gamer [50], I am pretty fed up at the rank reset, the leaderboard, whilst understandable, was disheartening as I'd legitimately got some top 50 scores, these I can maybe replicate, but the loss of legitimately achieved is totally gutting.

I spent many hours playing numpties just to score the odd point here and there in the hope of achieving Elite [I was up to Superstar *]. It was bad enough that I could only get 1 or 2 points for winning a race in a full room of noobs, but I was persevering. Now I gotta start again?

I'm not sure that I can be bothered

Drive 'em all? I've got all the cars, I've driven them all and yet it still tells me I'm 42/43??? What am I missing there then?

Regardless of what others say, Achievements ARE an integral part of Xbox gaming, if they weren't then why bother to put them in the game at all? To get close to one and then have the rug pulled away is not nice.

I'm disappointed.
