Join the Isengard Programme

We are now accepting open, active applications for people to join Turbine’s Isengard preview server, so if you’re interested then now is the time to apply! Spaces will be extremely limited so when you apply please make sure you supply all the correct details and information to ensure you get the best possible assessment.

What is Isengard?

Isengard is the name of our Private Preview Server. Isengard players are able to experience new and revised content well in advance of its release to the public game servers. We're able to directly collect their feedback and comments on this new content and make the necessary and appropriate adjustments before it is updated onto our live worlds. Isengard players are the first people (after our internal QA department) to see changes made to the game and they are the first who get to voice their opinions about what they like and dislike. They are also bound to a Non-Disclosure Agreement.

LOTRO developers use this server to try out new changes, gather feedback, and make adjustments before pushing their changes to LIVE. Feedback from Isengard players can have a significant impact on future content.

So how do I apply!?

Participation in this Preview programme will require you to maintain an active The Lord of the Rings Online™: Shadows of Angmar™ account, and agree to a Non-Disclosure Agreement (which will be provided to you when you join). All applicants must be 18 years and older. If you're interested in participating, please send an e-mail to isengardeurope@codemasters.com and tell us a little bit about your LOTRO experience. You should include the following in this e-mail:

I was offered for isengard program and roheryn servers in old US beta days but was so busy with realllife work etc.. couldnt accept
This is a real second chance for me ,therefore applied :P

I'm tempted, but I think I'd prefer to experience new content for the first time in a complete and polished state, and with friends.

Its certainly a great idea should you have the time and desire to test content for the rest of the playerbase and continued good development of the game. Its also a great oppurtunity and thanks for the post inviting us to join.

I must agree with the above sentiment however for my own personal preferences and wait until the polished finished content to enjoy it with my Kin.

It's unfortunate that a great deal of people go on test servers simply to play the content earlier and are less than interested in actually *testing* for the rest of us.

This is why we've asked for applicants to supply certain data which can help us sift through those who are just applying to play un-released content, and those who are actually willing to test content. This is also why there are only a limited number of places going.

Its about time we had a shot at testing content and being in the front line for submitting reports/suggestions

I started to fill out the email to apply for this, then changed my mind as i realised the following that made me think that i might not be suitable for content testing/bug reporting:-

I have played this game since pre-order, most nights of the week for a good 2-3 hours. Apart from having a 'stuck character' that most people had a good few months ago on the same day.. i have never experienced a bug in this game that has stopped/hindered me playing in any way - ever.

I have never submitted an in-game ticket, nor ever had any reason to.
Of course i have had the odd disconnect... but i cant think of anything thats happened in game that would constitute a bug/problem.

So i decided not to apply, as this game is obviousely good enough without a nub like me getting involved in it's testing
