Question Ranged Effectiveness

One thing is puzzling me, i have agility 86, might 24 and yet my Melee Effectiveness is 101 and my ranged effectiveness is 95, just wondering if anyone has any idea why this is?

That normally happens to me after I acquire the dual-wield ability.

Hmm never looked at it before i got Dual Wield, but Melee Effectiveness trounces Range Effectiveness by quite some way.

Hm, Ive always wanted to ask about the effectiveness. What are they really for? How can we tell what's a good effectiveness and what's a bad?

your ranged and melee effectivness also depends on the weapons you have equiped not just your stats, once you do get dual wield your melee is often higher than your ranged because it is taking 2 weapons into account over just one, once you get the very high level bows (47+) you should see it swing back the other way slightly.
I dont know exactly what mine are at but my ranged is slightly higher than my melee, with both being around 230 ish (from what i remember :P )

Yeah I'd like to know what these value means. I always thought it meant the damage you deal when auto-attacking, but my bow auto-attack is about 100 whereas my melee is 60, even though my melee efficiency is higher :/

i recently aquired a better bow, and now my ranged eff is better than my melee, so obviously the weapon you have equipped has a bearing on yor ranged eff!

Default Ranged effectiveness

The values is simply to help determin which weapons is best to use. The more effectiveness the better. It also give a quick view which items is best if you wanna do more dmg.

I recently asked the same question to a GM. As an elven hunter I was surprised that in almost every configuration I tried with Dual Wield that Melee Eff > Ranged Eff. Even when I had something like 300 more Agility than Might which supposedly effects ranged damage ...

Needlessly to say they didnt have any answers for me but we did discuss some ideas which may or may not be true ....
- these stats are purely based on the raw damage of the weapons (no other stats or skills)
- these stats are based on the raw damage of the weapons and players stats (no skills) - still found this hard to believe
- the use of dual wield combined with a critical hit % which benefits from agility makes melee weapons better without the use of skills - made me wonder a little about the benefit of choosing an elf if agility plays so small a part

I also raised the question of critical hit % and what this stat is based on and effects but again he didn't know. Didn't seem to recognise potential differences between ranged crit, melee crit, and 'magic' crit

He did show some knowledge that there is an issue with targetting still for hunters.

He was stunned that when we are close to a monster we have no choice in autoattack for our melee skill to kick in and start meleeing - that we cannot use bow all the time - even when unequipping melee weapons we start punching the mob
