Default Level 30 hunter quest

I just tried this quest and found myself suddenly surrounded by 5 wolves, wich in the end overwelmed me.
When i went to retry, I found myself in a bug who would not let me out of the instance, so I had to call a GM to get out of there.
Now i just aborted the quest and accepted it again, to avoid the bug, but i would like some advice on how to make it, if this is possible at level 30 as I am now.

If you abort the quest in the instance it teleports you out. But when you go back in it might come up saying she is dead. Teleport out again. Wait for a while (or log out for a while) and it then works okay.

Best way I did it was:

Take out the named. Put some multi traps down to root the other wolves so they don't hassle you. Once the named is down you can leg it back to the village and wait for the wolves. Then you got a bit of help in your fight. You can also kill a couple of the wolves off outside, use some rain of arrows to take them down a few pegs before hand.

quest is easy, did it first time with no problems what so ever. Simple. Run to end of the town use the animal tracking skill, find the elite and track it, trap kill while the other run off towards town, then kill them off. The mobs are quite low lvl and die in a few hits, elite only has like 2k hp i think.

Thanks fot the avice Youso, that was really helpful, I will try to use that tactic to kill the big / use traps / attract the small wolves to town and seek for some help from NPC.

I would really love that everybody in this forum would reply only to help and advice like you did, but unfortunately it is not always so.

Imho, you can't die from the wolves, but if you wait for them to reach the village you risk having the NPC die, and you fail.

This is what happened to me the first time, but the second time I waited for them at the edge of the village, laid a nice trap, a campfire, ate something and concentrated on the first one that arrived until the elite came. Then I killed the elite and any of the other wolves that remained.

As a side note: ALWAYS chose the CROSSBOWS over the bows. They may have the same DPS, but they do less damage, while the xbows might be slower but they do much more damage. Remember that the skills check actual damage, not DPS, and they are not slower when you use a xbow, so they are much more lethal. They might change how all this works in the future, but at them moment xbows are better than bows of the same caliber.

When I did this I was surprised how tough the named Wolf was when I first encountered it, so be prepared for that one. First thing I did was run out of town to get the wolves before they hit the village, got caught up in the fight with the named and some of the others got close. Wasn't much of a problem though, so long as you make sure the NPC doesn't have hate from any Wolves; just attack her target and you will most definatly pull it away from her and use rain of arrows to tag any others if there is more than one.

And listen to Belechael ^_^ Crossbows generally outperform Bows because of how skill damage is calculated, kinda wish they made some Bows with Crossbow stats though lol.

How about roleplaying reasons? An elf with a crossbow? Don't think so. As a matter of fact, I don't remember any character in the books using a crossbow, not even Uruk-hai as in the movies (haven't checked though). Of course, if you are just after power that won't mean much to you, but I like my character to fit a bit in Tolkiens world.

Well, this is really a hard decision, depending on eachone play style. Anyway, thanks again for the tips on this quest, and yes, I already had an idea how hard the big wolf is

Did the same. Maybe the X-Bow is able to knock the wind out of some mobs, but my Char and a xbow? No, thanks. And the Bow looks great, so my decision was right ^^ (for me)
