Exclamation Stop Using Rain of Arrows!

Alright, there are many of us wandering around and I usually find two hunters in a fellowship. Now we've all spent time yelling at the rest of the group to give us time to put our traps down. So why in the name of christ do you rain of arrows once someone is trapped? It defeats the whole purpose of limiting the mobs in play. It seems people have a particular love of RoA right next to the elite boss I've just pulled into the trap.

Please, stop it.

I use RoA as any other single target skill.
The good part is that it has a VERY HIGH crit. rate when you have the right trait active.

... other then that, I totally agree that, if ppl are using RoA, gusting wind, earthquake or any other AOE skills, then the whole point of traps drops

Just to add a slight different approach,

You can lay a trap to get at least 1 extra hit in before it gets to you.

So say lay trap.
RoA.
1 mob gets to you. the other traped.
Pen shot the on on you
Quick shot
RoA

Or something like that.
Also handy as a hunter buffer zone in case we pull agro from guardian etc. or for a minstrel to run to a hunter and trap what evers agroing him.

i only ever use RoA in a fellowship when the quest/mobs are grey and/or im easily the highest level in the group. example last night doing grey q's vile poison and black fire, i used RoA to ensure if the elites were upset with anyone it was me, rest of grp were 28 and im 35. i never use roa with trap unless i get a 3rd in which case i ae snare low cut roa and see whether i should run

Rain of Arrows are for groups. It is an aggro magnet and shouldnt be used in a Fellowship unless the tank is aware

As for traps, i still havnt been in a Fellowship, where they allowed me the time to use my trap effectively, they just rush in and start to fight.. so i guess RoA is all thats left for me ?

Been there, done that, got the scars from bad teamwork getting everyone killed...

Kinda funny really... lost count of the times I've had the "trap the Elite so we can kill the rest" AFTER they've started fighting. *shrug* Thankfully, most of it was just after the release, so I guess most people are learning to bleeding well wait for the Hunter to prepare! (what's the saying? "Fools rush in... and get everyone slaughtered" )

Oh god, I was in so many bad fellowships today. First I tried the great barrow (several times). I'm level 34, and was serving as tank. Most of the groups there are 2 bowman/1 melee wight, so I trap the melee, tell my group to focus on the right bowman and attack the left myself.

So what happens? I lay the trap and fire off a rain of arrows (to draw the aggro upon myself). The bloomin' champions charge in, and ONLY attacks the trapped enemy. Of course then the rest of the group is in complete confusion, and by the time I finish the bowman I was solo'ing the minstrel/champion are dead and I need to fire off aother rain of arrows to stop the rest dieing. It's ridiculous how little tactical knowledge many players seem to have.

It's not even exclusive to lower levels. Had a group for Dol Dinen earlier, the tanks aggro'ed 2 elites at once (which is fine for a full group), then weren't content so went and aggro'ed 4 (4!) trolls. Luckily our group was good enough to survive, but it's still needless to do such a thing.

I think in general hunters and champions are idiots. I consider myself a semi-decent player, who knows how to control agro I attract. Most though seem to be the sort who constantly spam high-damage AOE attacks, thus causing a wipe.

Off-topic I know but it's very annoying. I've given up on the great barrows quests now just because everyone I team with seems to be a frickin' idiot.

The only time when I use it:

1. when there are alot of low lvl ads, for example, in the barrows.. Crawling arms ans stuff

2. when there is no tank. we got a tight group and if the Tank is not arround. I'm the tank because we got a lore master and a minstrel a tank and a hunter. when the minstrel and lore master are in trouble I draw the mobs to me with 2 RoA.:P

if you are in a fellowship with a tank, use it only at the end of the fight.

Amen brother. I had the same problem for a long time where, being one of the seemingly few well-behaved hunters in a fellowship, I saw other hunters and champions using AOE attacks like it was going out of style, and hence causing a massive wipe because usually the tank can't get the aggro anymore, then the minstrel starts doing group heals because everyone's getting beat on, and then the mobs decide that the minstrel is a much nicer (and squishier) target.

I did finally get a group together that almost made it, 2 hunters, minstrel, guardian, burglar and a champion. Had the other hunter and champion "instructed" to not use AOE attacks unless called for, and it went well. Unfortunately we weren't high enough level-wise to live through one of the bosses

So back on topic; I tend to use ROA on grey mobs a lot, just so I can pull in a bunch and kill them to complete deeds. Only other time I use it is in the scenario described above, pulling 2 and getting a third, generally just low-cut, run, ROA, and see whether more running is required.
