Default How do you heal up as a hunter?

Now level 24 and starting to take a ton of damage when mobs get close.

how do you as a hunter heal up? in or out of combat?

You can buy potions/food to heal health/power out of combat, other than that, the idea as a hunter is not to let them get close in the first place... and if they do.. run no shame in that

Kites and mushroom pies.
Not too helpful, but I'm sure a friendly Hunter will explain in more detail how to avoid getting hit being the option we need to take.

Sorry, slightly off-topic but don't want to create a new thread -

Do other hunters hit-n-run (kiting in L2)? I tried it but it's so ineffective.

This is the sequence I usually use when soloing:

* Lay a trap at long range from the mob.
* Using your Strength Stance, open up with Quickshot to slow the mob's movement speed, then spam it with ranged attacks (making sure you get at least one Barbed Arrow in there) until it gets close to, but not actually into, the trap. Once the mob is in the trap, don't attack it as that'll encourage it to break free.
* Run away from the mob while it's stuck in the trap then, when you're at a comfortable range, turn and spam more attacks.
* If and when it gets into melee, use Scourging Blow (remember the Barbed Arrow you used before?) for big damage. If you can use your ranged attacks without interruptions do so, otherwise use melee attacks until it's dead or you need to run away. Try to land at least one Low Cut in case of the latter eventuality.
* If at any stage things go pear-shaped, leg it. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valour, and sometimes cowardice is the better part of discretion. (if more people understood this there'd be less compaints about repair costs )

Ranged auto-attack is a bloody liability so get used to switching it off the moment you don't need it. It's way too easy to aggro stuff with it.

When in a fellowship:
* If you're a few levels higher than the fellowship's tank remember to use only low to medium damage attacks to minimise getting aggro.
* Don't use your Strength Stance at all as it'll draw aggro too easily
* If you do get aggro use your melee auto attacks so as not to make it too hard for your fellowship mates to take the aggro off you.
* If you've got one of those awful "you aggro it, you kill it" tanks in the group who believes in punishing people for their aggro instead of doing his job, quit the fellowship and solo

Hope this helps.

healing as a hunter:

1) eat pies
2) use pots
3) get yourself a bow with morale drain
4) get yourself gear with in-combat morale regen.
5) equip traits with in-combat morale regen.

As mentioned above, I generally set a trap, then open in strength stance with a quick shot followed by swift bow, then penetrating shot, then barbed arrow. If I timed it right, that's about the time the mob will run into the trap.

Then I leg it to max range, and start spamming swift bow/penetrating shot/quickshot once more, and usually throw in a barbed arrow once the mob has escaped the trap.

Most white/yellow mobs are down to 200 morale by this time, and it only takes a scourging blow and some melee attacks to kill it. Orange mobs tend to take some more, so a low cut + running off a bit + swift bow without being interrupted usually fixes that.

If all else fails, I'll either use Desperate Flight, or just leg it.

I don't have much trouble with mobs that are white/yellow, oranges are doable but I'll need to light a campfire after each one so I can get my morale back.
