ArchLord Update
Hello,
I realise that people feel they have gone without an update for a while, and whilst I have addressed issues in individual threads I have not made a complete summary post.
This thread is designed to give everyone an update on were ArchLord currently is. Please realise that I am not sat on information that I am keeping from you, all information that I have to share I place on the forums, on the website and in newsletters.
Information first comes from NHN, through to our Producer, to our marketing team and then to me. There are many different departments involved in this process. I am here to feed information back and forth and to look after you guys, I realise you haven't had an update in a while but sadly I have limited amounts of information to update you with. We want you to have accurate information and are not keen to release information that we are not certain about.
This is done for a reason, as not everyone takes note of the fact information may be 'subject to change' so when it does change they get upset, and this is not something that we want. However, I know that you want more information so I am going to share what we have though please note some of it MAY change.
Episode II: Season of Siege
Contents:
This free update for ArchLord will contain the following:
+ Siege Warfare - This will be the three castles that can be sieged by up to six guilds in ArchLord. 3 attacking and 3 defending. They will be able to use catapults and siege monsters to attack the castle. Guilds that hold the castle will be able to compete to become the ArchLord, as well as receive other benefits.
+ ArchLord - The ArchLord system will be introduced into the game. This will allow all players to compete to become the ArchLord. Taking part in Siege Warfare will allow you move onto competing for the ArchLord crown. It will be open to all guilds with 30+ members that have been
active for 7 days or more. The ArchLord will receive new armour, spells and a dragon mount, they will also receive benefits that they can share with the rest of their guild.
+ New Armour - There will be new armour sets available to all classes and races.
+ New Quests - We hope to introduce new quests into the game as well, there are a number of new Moon Elf quests to be introduced as well as quests for the other races.
Additional:
+ There will be new Chantra store items introduced with the new patch as well, this will include some funky new bits.
+ Improved droprate - We have plans to tweak the drop rate with the new patch as well. I don't currently foresee there being any tweaks made to the XP rate in ArchLord. It is designed to be a hardcore game, and tweaking the EXP gain rate alters its dynamic. We would consider doing double EXP events and such like, this would be dependent on community feedback though.
+ There will be other bug fixes made to the game along the way too. I do not have a complete list of what these fixes are but as soon as I have patch notes I will post them for you all to read.
Dev Q&A:
I have put the questions that appeared in the ask the Dev's thread to NHN and have now got back their answers. Please see below for their responses. I will be requesting some more detail on many of them, but I wanted you to see where we are currently with this:
l are you gonna improve pathfinding?
We currently don't have plan for the improvement. But discussion is going on to seek better way to improve it.
I would like to ask what changes are planned for future Archlord updates. What does NHN see as viable changes that will make the game more appealing?
We are planning to update new elemental world with new monsters with new set items as Episode III. New armors, new skills(over lv50), costume system, guild supporting system, new class and race is under development now. And also we are considering the Archlord as Race battle in Western version. (Human vs Orc vs Moonelf)
Are they going to be adding more admin features to make it easier and better for the GM's or whoever to organise good and more sophisticated events?
We do not resolve issues through ingame in Korea, but through a webticket system. We will investigate ways to provide GMs with tools.
Will there be any improvements towards the guild register. i.e be able to rank certain players to a higher rank than others like an officer etc?
We plan to have additional Guild system by using Charisma. With Charisma, we plan to have users be able to gamble or able to have their character's own title.
what affects properties like how many slots the finished product will have, what effects do the different elemental stones have on the damage output?
If you add same type and same level of elemental stones into sockets, it makes additional attack point per socket. This means if you have more sockets with same level and same type of elemental stone, you have more damage than same type of weapon with less sockets.
Is there anything planned to rework or change the current implementation of the bounty system to prevent griefing and/or lower the consequences of getting bountied at high level, so that PVP can be more enjoyable?
We plan to change the system and discussion is going on.
Why do we moonrangers have a hard time levelling up, it look like ages what makes the game really boring?
Each character has its own advantage and disadvantage. New skills (over lv50) will help with Moonelf ranger for better levelling up.
Will they ever consider implementing new classes?
In Korea, we plan to update Moonelf Knight in June.
Will you guys ever implement a customisable UI? And if so, how far will this go?
We currently don't have plan for it.
Update on current status:
We have the ArchLord and Siege Warfare on our internal QA system. We are working with NHN to get the issues resolved as quickly as possible, but at the moment the system is not working as planned. NHN are aware and the issues are being resolved. A date for when we will launch the public test server has not been settled on. NHN do not provide us with dates, they work through issues as quickly as they can though. Once it is on the test server we expect to spend two weeks with final testing before we launch the game to the public.
I hope this alleviates some of your concerns, I do honestly share what I have with you.
Thanks,
Mr.Ktat
