Default Colin McRae series gets Downgraded to 30fps?

From EDGE Magazine:

"Much as the topic seems increasingly moot, it feels like dereliction of duty not to ask the McRae team if DIRT will run at 60 frames per second. The response is one you can expect to become the norm over the coming months, if not further into the future, for all but the most fidgety of games. No, it won't. Two squads of developers, we're told, tested an early build both at 30fps and 60 fps, concluding the influence of post-processing effects was quite enough to maintain the sensation of speed at 30, the controls remaining reponsive regardless. It's worth remembering that when similar was said of PGR3, plenty bemoaned the decision, but few contested the result."

Back in July RFT told us it would be 60fps.

What the hell is going on? No game this generation has been running at 30fps with or without blur that presents the visual fidelity that 60fps offers. PGR3, Motorstorm, PS3 F1, Test Drive Unlimited all look like crap in motion.

If this is true then I guess our only option for 60fps will be PC because I am sure as hell not supporting another 30fps racing game.

Is this the post processing effect that is suppose to make 30fps ok? Cram in so much detail that a game requires 30fps but once you start to move, as you usually do the vast majority of the time in a racing game, all the detail gets blurred to hell, making it pointless and more difficult for the player to discern the track.

I would take CMR5 crisp 60fps visuals over PGR3 30fps screen smearing any day.

Do you guys sure that your TV will give you more than 30 fps even if the game will run at 60?

yes the game's going to run at 30fps- after a great deal of testing and work it was decided that was the best compromise between looks and frame rate. there's an important side-issue which is that the rate of screen update isn't tied to the physics update which remains very fast.

July was a very long time ago, and in the course of game development you can't always predict exactly what the process is going to throw up.

Any reason why we wouldnt be able to turn off the crappy blur and run it on a PC at 60+fps?

It might be that something unnecessary is happening around ,when driving, and that is supposed to amaze players?
And, that takes a huge amount of processing power, so from graphics card and cpu, who knows..

Maybe, kind of "kill, slash and crash" -game. Well, I'm a rallydriver, I do not need that kind of feature, if it is.

I've just read this about forza 2 (racing game for xbox 360)

"steady 60fps frame rate, HDR lighting, and bump-mapping"

how come dirt can't run at 60fps :/

I blame the PS3 as being the lead development platform for CMR DIRT(from what I hear).

Forza 2 also has 8 cars on the screen.

They can blur CMR all to hell and it still wont cover up 30fps.
