I thought about buying the downloader. Downloading worked nicely with other games so far, but I can't resell the games after I'm done with it... (if ever, lol)

Lol, true enough. I'm using a laptop though, so PC gaming doesn't work as well as it would were I back in Canada on my rig. I had to get it for the Xbox.

Not tempted to buy actually, but I just picked up Blue Dragon and Halo 3. Budget gaming ftw!
Btw Kal, I heard that Dragon Age on Xbox is really inferior to the PC version. Not sure how true it is though.

It's been so long since I've been here that I don't even remember the email address I used to register for my account. I'd like to say I'm shocked that the thread is still going, but, as one of the people that caused it to blossom so, I can't, really. (God, I'm still the number six poster?)
How's the military treating you, Nilles? Or is that already over with? I'm so far gone, these days. As far as on topic (Like there ever was a topic or ever will be a topic.), I have Dragon Age, and I couldn't really get behind it. I think it's because they hyped it up to be like Baldur's Gate, and it's really not. I couldn't really get past that. |

Lol, Sel. I wouldn't have recognised with that new, slender post count.

Have you played Mass Effect? I suspect since that was one of their latest, the look&feel of DA would be a little like ME.

Yeah, I didn't really expect the Xbox version of the game to be on par with the PC version, but given that I'm in Japan rather than in Canada I'm kind of limited in my options for gaming. I played Fallout 3 on my PC rather than my Xbox and I kind of regret it simply because having seen the Xbox version in action, it runs far smoother than the PC version did.
On the other hand, DA was hyped up as a spiritual successor to BG from my understanding, not as the same thing as BG. I'm personally glad it's not like BG. At this point in time that game is a little dated. I'm still stoked for DA. I just hope it's not as frustrating as ME was. Or rather, as frustrating as the Mako in ME was, lol. |

The combat system is, to be honest, much worse. I don't even usually like shooters, and I liked Mass Effect. I feel like Dragon Age's combat is really lacking something, but I don't know what that something is. I think my distaste for it might have something to do with the fact that I didn't pay for the game, so I'm not down sixty dollars, and forcing myself to like it. Quote:
And Kal, I can't believe you liked Fallout on 360 better than PC. No offense, but did you install it on your toaster? My PC, even with an integrated card, ran it leagues faster than my 360. Anyhow, I think I'm in the minority as far as Dragon Age is concerned. It's annoying and frustrating for me, but even my girlfriend is addicted to it. I haven't been able to touch my 360 since a few days before it was released. My major list of complaints is as follows. Spoiler free. - Morrigan is a huge bitch. Her reactions to things are like, stereotypical, mustache-twirling evil. She's supposed to be this whole machiavellian person, but it's like, she'd rather be evil than self-serving. Can't stand her. - Quests are long as hell. Like, really long. And annoying. I appear to be the only one who feels this way in the entire world. - NPCs are immune to me, for no reason other than they're NPCs (I can blow enemies and myself up, but not NPCs.). There are points in the story that could be simply handled by picking someone's pocket for quest items or lopping their heads off, but neither is an option. Instead, you have to do their quests. As a Baldur's Gate fan, this annoys me. I mean, did anyone do the quest for the light gem in the Underdark? |

I have several toasters around. One runs a solaris port of aircrack and sslstrip. But my roomies want to upgrade to linux soon. Right... I believe that. I have a feeling that Bioware has always had a kind of problem with villians. But then again, that's computer games in general. There hasn't been a real villain around since Fluffy Fluffy Bun Bun.
