Cba to make a poll, so just post yes/no:
If Black Prophecy comes out first, will you bypass jumpgate and just play that. It does look very good actualy. Personaly, I'm not sure, I want to stick with JGE, it's fairly new to me, but I've read all the articles, seen most of the forums and I get the feeling it's deep space pot of gold at the end of a development rainbow...

No.
Black Prophecy according to the developers is designed to be a instanced mini arena combat MMO, where you just form a group and then go into various battle scenarios against another group. Call me old fasioned, but I prefer my MMOs with a focus on a open populated universe, with actual substance to it.

Actually there is a LOT more to BP than some people on here give it credit. I know on other forums we cant really talk about it, but here (other games, etc) to totally dismiss such a similar game is just plain stupid. Would people not play Call of Duty because they loved Medal of Honor? Thats just daft. And check out their timeline story, and some dev vids, and look a bit deeper into it, if you want immersion. Looks pretty imerrsive to me.
Personally I look forward to JGE, BIG TIME, but I also look forward to BP and will look forward to any other Space MMO (SW:Tor obviously), and I will play both. When they come out I will be buying 3 brand new 24" monitors and a new system to play it in W I D E S C R E E N 5760 x 1200, cant wait! JGE or BP! ![]() However, if one comes out before the other, I will no doubt throw myself heavily into THAT game, so after weeks/months I would have levelled up a fair bit so will probably stick with whichever that game is, after all the time I have put into it. If there is only a small gap between their releases I will probably swap to the one I think is the best for me personally. Releasing when games are ready is of course an important thing, nobody disputes that. HOWEVER, for games that are VERY similar in nature (i.e. if a WoW and Aion were both to come out in the same quarter) and assuming they are both finished or are at a very nearly finished level, releasing first is a major decider in getting more subscriptions. Obviously having a GOOD game, with continued decent content will help keep those subscriptions, but coming our first is a very important aspect. Last edited by Willywoo; 03-11-2009 at 01:21 PM. |

Yeah it's not for me either, thats not to say Cruel wont have a squad for it tho, but for me personally, I hate being locked away in instances all the time where the only people you see in the game are the ones in your party.
I do not class games like these as mmo's, even battleswarm is classed as an mmo, but I dont agree because your only ever in actual game with 8 people at a time, out of the levels your just in a fancy irc chat tool.

In short yes I would give it a try, it looks beautiful and well created so definitely worth a look. Plus they have a 50 man team on that so its more likely to recieve support post creation.
In practicality though funds permitting I'm trying both.

In before the "OMG but JGE will have instances!!11"
OT: I'm with Tiki, Dru and Dvalon. I'll check it out but ultimately, I want a universe that is open, not lots of little universes for my friends and I. If I want a vast and beautiful universe for one, I'll fire up X3 ![]() Besides, I've too much invested in JGE now...there's no going back!

From MMOs I don't just want a game. I want a game with a world. I don't want to feel I'm on bnet playing Diablo 2.
