I get a pop up with the following:
Assertion failed! Program: ... File: ..\FxSDK\src\fxname.cpp Line 461 Expression: FxFalse ! = removeResult I am running Windows XP SP2 w/Radeon card, meeting or exceeding all minimum requirements I previously received an error message about an NV(something).dll but cannot replicate that error. |

Having the same exact same problem with the steam Demo with the OPs fxname.cpp popup.
The "nv" problem I had was "unable to locate component" "This application has failed to start because nvcuda.dll was not found" Totally biased assertion - its problably the broken-ass nvidia physics stuff since nvcuda seems to be an nvidia thing. I am running a Vista-64 with a Radeon 3870, meets and exceeds all requirements. Last edited by Tacitus59; 24-06-2009 at 02:04 AM. |

In my Vista 64/Radeon 3870 system - this driver seemed to work - despite the fact I have no nvidia stuff on my system. It was a suggestion on the steam forum.

I have the same problem. I already had physx installed. I tried reinstalling and it didn't help. Does anyone else have any idea how to fix this? Edit: I deleted Physx and tried running the game. Before it started it reinstalled Physx. I did a full system reboot and it works fine. Last edited by Bluefalcon9; 24-06-2009 at 11:41 PM. |

Hi all,
We have now resolved this issue, and you should now get offered an update when you restart steam All brand new downloads of the game from Steam will now not have this issue.

I'm also getting stuck at startup, get an error msg and booted back to desktop. I used Direct to Drive to purchase my game. Have there been any updates applied there?

I just downloaded TWICE from steam with this same problem..... I have downloaded the physx drivers to no avail.
ITS STILL NOT WORKING. I did it today!! The post a couple above suggests its fixed but obviously someone FAILS at uploading the fixed version onto steam for me to download. There is no patch on offer on steam for me to download and fix this. I just keep getting fxname.cpp issue over and over. Restarted steam, my computer, downloaded and installed drivers etc etc. CAN YOU LINK THE PATCH FOR ME TO DOWNLOAD PLEASE. |
