Hi Guys,
Ive only been playing this game for three weeks, having spent most of my time in Medal of Honour or flight sim 2004. This is the most addictive game ive played for a long time, especially online. I host quite often and try and juggle things around to give variety of vehicles and tracks. However I have one problem which causes some problems. As host I seem to get a massive jump at start of race going from almost anywhere on the grid to the front. Even with collisions off, I try and drive round people, or go slower to make up for this advantage, but it still makes a huge difference. How can I possibly make the starts more fair? The situation appears worse when I have players from the States or Canada in game. Any help would be appreciated as CHQ prides itself on fairplay. I apply the bonus codes for the tracks and vehicles, leaving off the codes for boost and four wheel drive. I also applied the REG 775 MOD, but I wouldnt expect that to make any difference. Thanks in advance. John |

The only thing causing that is either your hosting too many players and so the extra amount of info going through the connections at the start when all the cars are packed close together create a big demand.
also having people who lagg themselves can be a problem. i used to get this where i would like get a rocket start and get way ahead when i was hosting 12 players (as the game said i could). Since i lowered it to 8 players as people said it was laggy before everyone seems to start at the same time as i do. so first off try reducing the numbeer of slots |

Thanks mate,
Im hosting ten, so will drop it to 8. I dont get many reports of lag as such, but will try out your suggestion. John |

It happens even on 10mbit servers... then the problem is not linked at the bandwidth avaible, but (maybe) at the poort netcode (poor at least for this aspect).
Yes, it is very annoying: sometime the host starts 2 second before anyone, and if he is a good driver with few laps (eg: 3) and a short track, he take a BIG advantage to finish the race in first positions. PS: i see very FAIR guys, that hosts, and if they start before they WAIT for others. Then i want to give my greets to one of these: goodfell@.

Hi Guys,
Hosted last night. There was an improvement hosting 8. However I still had some advantage when people from more exotic locations joined ( if Finland can be considered exotic! lol ), although it was much easier to slow it down and I didnt blast off at the front. Thanks for the tips, at least next time im accused of cheating I will be able to give a better explanation. Ta Much John |
