First.. I agree with you and want a racing simulator, as do many Americans, but from CM's own mouth.. the American market is the largest in the world and they are in business to make money. Nobody in their right mind would want an arcade F1 game.. not even Americans.

F1 is worldwide and has a huge fan base here as well as in Europe.. although no where near as MASSIVE. Let's all try and work together to get what an F1 game demands.. and that's a racing simulator.. true to F1 strategy and physics.
With respect, Z

Sorry dude I didn't mean to sound "us vs them"! I mean to say why if you want to a racer to appeal to the casual gamer in any market, do you use F1!!!!

My conspriacy hat tells me its Berny and Formula One Managment wanting F1 in genral to be more appealling!! I cant see how a game that intends to be unreaslitic could to that!! It's F1 thats the issue a game wont save it.... lol.

I'll summarise your comments - they went:

"Burble.. LOL... burble ... LOL ... burble ... LOL"

Didn't make me laugh at all, you must be really easily amused...

As an American, who loves F1. I want a pure Simulation, anything else is a disgrace to F1.

America will have a GP back in 2009... Trust me. I live in Indianapolis and it will be back at the Indianapolis Motorspeedway.

Yes, Americans love NASCAR... Don't ask me why. Has anyone try the demo for NASCAR 09... What a horrific joke. Graphically it doesn't come close to GT5P. Physics aren't horrid, but they are arcadish at best.

Cheers.

I really hope you are right! the problem is that they were using the F-1 race to promote the Indy500 and Bernie had to teach them a lesson!

Schumacher won 7 but that makes him better than 2 Clarks together and 1 Senna? Beware of numbers!!!

STill, I'd prefere CM made a F1 game that is as close as possible to the real deal and not an arcade like clone.

I want to really learn how to drive a F1 car, not saying that you shouldn't be able to have some help in the beginning, like breaks, gear help and what not, but, in the end, it should resemble the real deal.

That is what would get my adrenaline pumping, learning how to drive a F1 car, not playing it for like a week and become champion without any problem simply because CM has dumbed down everything that can be in the game.
I'm not a petrol head, but when I play racing games, I want them to be as realistic as possible.

I'd love it if the USA GP went back to Phoenix like in 1991 (if memory serves). That was a great race...

Right, I haven't read every post in this thread, but I get the jist and just to stop you all from panicking too much... GRID and DiRT are aimed at an arcade audience and they do that very well. F1 has different requirements and will get a completely different treatment from our in-house team, including full on sim options, physics, rules and regs etc. We will also have arcade requirements catered for as well. How this will be split we do not know yet, but split it will be.
