I hate to be a old fogey, but my 11 year old son is REALLY into greek mythology and would love this game. I have never gotten him an M rated game, nor one with what seems to be this much blood in it.
Is there a way to tone ot down? |

Hi there,
I'm afraid that there isn't an option to turn off the gore in the game.

This is just my opinion on the matter, not saying I'm right or wrong though:
I really wouldn't worry about it, personally. I don't have the game yet, and won't be playing it until Christmas day, but from what I've read, it doesn't sound like there's much (if any) nudity or vulgar language. As for the violence, I've read that even though there are slow-motion executions during battles, the graphics aren't realistic to the point where you see every last gruesome detail of it or anything (in fact, I've actually read that it's hard to tell when an enemy is taking damage if the health bar is turned off). I also highly doubt a game like this would instill a mentality of violence in a kid like something of say, Grand Theft Auto 4 would. No guns, no hookers, etc. Just sword slashing and spear thrusting, which it's obviously still going to have to involve, regardless of whether there's a little bit of blood seen or not -- after all, it's Greek mythology we're talking about. Besides, even then, since this is more historical than most other games, I would let the little guy play it. It does teach you about one of the more famous epic tales of Greek mythology. And the less sugar-coated, the more accurate. Greek mythology can't really be taught as glittery unicorns and rivers of strawberry milk afterall. Although I could be wrong, I also don't believe there are any other games based on Greek mythology that don't involve bloodshed of any sort. That's not to say a feature to turn the blood off wouldn't have been a good idea at the same time, though. My guess is your son would be more fascinated with the story and the environments of it than the fighting anyway. Greek mythology is focused more on telling epic tales rather than to emphasize the details of bloody wars like the later Romans do.Hope this helped. Last edited by Ceejus; 16-12-2008 at 03:13 PM. |

game is quite toned down as it is, blood is not that bloody and you really don't have that much freedom to do "bad" things like some other action RPGs do. I don't see why people still have a problem with bit of gore game has. Thats better to let your kid do, shot an innocent victim in the head or cut some evil's guy head off...

Additionally there is no offensive part in my last post (respectively it wasn't intended). So please calm down. |
