Smile drow (and elf) enhancements (SR and vs. enhancements)

I have a drow ranger (lv 7/1 ranger/paladin).

I understand that enhancements are very powerful things (some going as far as to say they are too powerful).

The drow have two enhancements of note, in particular, spell resistance (SR) and enchantment resistance (ER). I vaguely know how SR works, and I have no idea how ER works. Elves have ER, but not SR.

My questions are:

1. How does ER work? What is an "enchantment"? Perhpas things such as fear, nausea, hold, blind etc. fall into the definition of enchantment? Which stat is the +2,4 or 6 of the ER number actually added to?

2. What are people's opinion on the utility of SR? Is it actually worth spending that valuble enhancement slot on it, especially as now I am nearing those harder, higher level quests?

3. Same question as number 2 above for ER? Is it worth it?

The reason why I ask, is I'd like to spend a slot on other, nice-sounding enhancements, and I don't wnat to be wasting a slot on an enhancement which people generlally consider to be useless.

Perhaps this is dealt elsewhere, in which case, apologies: please direct me to the relevant post/web-page.

Thanks for your time.

1. It's added on your will save. Enchantments consider: Holds, charms, curses, dances, hypnotisms and fears, only as spells though (if i remember ench description right).

2) SR sucks (too high caster levels in high-end to be actually worth of it), handy on lev1-4 though, but not worth of enchantment slot.

3) ER might be worth of it, for a ranger. Depends on facts: 1) any enchantment you could depart for it 2) How often you are hit by hold / fear / or any other similar spell

Default thanks for that

Dear Skitsoism,

Thanks for your reply.

I had suspected SR was pretty useless, I had been seeing that blue flash (indcating a successfull SR save) less and less nowadays. So ihave swapped it out and replaced with elven dexterity, bringing my dex up to a finnesse-friendly 28, which is nice.

I think I'll hold onto ER, seeing as my will saves a pretty low, and until I manage to think of another enhancement I'd rather have.

All the best,

i have a level 12 elf fighter who uses ER and SR19 belt ask the wizys who she has meet in pvp if its worth it (chickens keep running away from her she only an elf girl :P). i think it is as she is almost unstopable in quests with the ER and SR. but if i take off that lil belt (or forget to put it back on) she tends to get held.

when i 1st put it on i invited 2 level 12 guild clerics and a level 12 wizy to pvp to try and command or hold me. they had a very hard time

1st haveing to hit.
2nd haveiung to penetrate her SR.
3rd her failing her will save. (i need to roll a 1 to fail)

so in my eyes yes its worth it

Skitsoism summed it up pretty good!

...and the funny thing is, that they are nerfing an almost useless enhancement just to make sure that you won´t take it!

In PvP(player vs player), SR can be good thou.. in PvE(player vs enemy) no.. and PvP doesnt really swing in this game...
