Default Game sound problem (PC)

Good game so far, but I'm having 2 sound issues.

One is that I can't hear the in-game speech. All I see are subtitles.

Two is that when I'm facing straight towards a sound in the game (Helicopter, gunfire, etc) the sound seems to fade away and only comes back when I turn my character to one side.

I have SigmaTel audio, and as far as I know it's entirely updated. I use Windows XP.

Sign me up for the same problem. I'm running Win7 x64 with Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio.

**Problem Resolved**
Under Win7 the speaker configuration was set to 7.1 speaker by default. I simply changed speaker set up under the OS to my proper configuration and all sounds where there.

Question similar but different

while that does help me with one issue I've had, i am unable to get any sound through my headset i hear the opening movies but once i get to the menu there is nothing, same happens in game.

i have a AXPC 5.1 headset with the newest drivers i could find for it

other then the few sound problems its a great game for a port
