Default An effective way in highlighting important suggestions

I would like to propose a new method which will enable some very important ideas to gain popularity here on this forum (this will in turn help the Codemasters Development team to identify highly important areas on which the majority of members agree).

It would be useful to introduce a function whereby every post of any registered member can receive agreement or disagreement of any other registered member. So for example if you read a post in which you entirely agree with the suggestion of that person you can give your support to that post and all other members will be able to see that it earned one point. Similarly if you strongly disagree you can choose the appropriate option and it will lose one point. If you only partially agree you can post a reply in which you outline what you find useful and what not and perhaps then you can find your own supporters.

It is also vital that only one agreement or disagreement point can be given by any registered member to any post. This will let the Codemasters Development team clearly understand the ideas which have the most popularity.

I can set up a poll for members to say if they agree or disagree with this new method (or if there is general acceptance then the moderators will have to install this function).

I understand the idea, although this can be similarly achieved if ideas are presented clearly and thoughtfully with the assistance of polls which are written in just as clear a manner. Unfortunately not everyone does this, I admit.

I emphasize 'clearly and thoughtfully', though, and focus on this because it's like a review for a game where the score means very little for a thoughtful person and the important part comes in the body of the review. So I'd rather suggestions and counter ideas be read and all opinions understood than have a feature implemented in the game because the majority on a forum ticked the 'thumbs-up' box.

Doesn't the "rate thread" button already provide this service?

I never realised there was this feature. So does that mean that the more popular threads gain higher ratings? In this case it puts an end to this discussion.
