Default Microphones

Today, I had a (what I believe is a) fantastic idea. What about microphones? Obviously, these would be usable for VOIP communication with other players in MP mode, but I recon that this should be expanded upon to being able to give commands to AI via voice recognition.

It would be brilliant to be able to say "2, go there" and just have your guy follow your instructions, or even as a commander "Squad X-ray, move to grid 123 456". It would also be awsome to see this used for calling in air support as well "Yankee 64, requesting laser guided bomb at grid 234 567, ingress from bearing 0200, egress to bearing 6000, over".

Even giving verbal orders (ie. not through radio) to a soldier and tell them to go to another soldier and relay the order to them "you, relay to 6, go to there", and also to have soldiers verbally calling out contact sightings and having those repeated by other troops to ensure everyone heard up and down the line.

I believe that something like this would definitely improve immersion into the game (especially if you are able to call the soldiers by name instead of number, so "Wilson" instead of "2"). And the best part is, this is well within the boundaries of todays gaming technology (heaps of games, such as the SOCOM series, use voice recognition to give AI orders if the right hardware is avaliable).

What does everyone else think?

Well if we press the devs hard enough about it im sure they can do it but the thought of that makes me feel dirty lol. Theres still plenty of time to implement it.It would definatly further the immersion and make commanding so much more simple. But is it really going to be worth the devs time I mean whould they really see this as worth their time implenting?

Its a good idea for sure, but its a risky idea. We should see how EndWars turns out (Which uses the system your talking about) and if it works out well, press the devs or mod it ourselves.

This is a great idea, it gives a even more realastic feel to the game too. Also with the idea of the AI to have names is a great idea. It makes it feel like you are playing with people instead of AI. As jambo said we need to see how EndWar turns out which uses your idea.

You mean voicecommands like in Tom Clancy's Endwar and H.A.W.X?
