the first patch list, for all platforms was created, and due to be released a little over a week ago. about 3-5 days before this the cheating on pc really began to kick into high gear. They had that patch meeting, and decided to disable the game from loading external files as a quick fix to cheating, add md5 checksum checking to files on load and then release the patch list once this was achieved.
they held back releasing patch information because they knew no matter how they worded it, the pc community was going to backlash over the small size of the first patch. *they had already stated the patch would not have PC specific fixes, only platform wide fixes, and that got a backlash from the community there.
Im guessing that if the rampant cheated hadn't happened at all, this patch would have been released a week+ ago. it would still be a small patch yes, but by now we could have heard of the second patch.

again, this is just speculation on my part from what I have read on these forums since joining

Thanks for all the great input here form the moderator and the community. Very good things can come from this type of engaged communication.

Only time will tell, but they are watching, and listening to the community despite what some say
That is interesting to hear, encouraging even.

Default First Good News

I was lamenting the fall off of game play last night within my community (Tactical Gamers) and the overwhelming displeasure expressed in any/all forums concerning this game and another not to be mentioned and this is the first post I've seen that returns some of the hope I had. I understand how difficult it is to live up to expectations and appreciate how much communication plays into building relationships. This is the first example I've seen that CM intends to work with the community to assuage our common concerns.

True, allbeit on the privacy of a virtual room somewhere discussing some kind of options that keeps the mods alive.

Mods are one thing...actually I'd argue the biggest thing right now. They've kept this game alive! BUT...the fundamentals remain clear and documented.

These are not being addressed....correction...acknowledged.

putting a CRC check on files means nothing. They alter the hex location in memory to engage the cheats. Since there are no dedicated server files to reverse check the memory locations nor server keys on the PC, cheating will not be hampered in the least.
