Default Best way to get AI to defend a building from inside it?

What's the best way to get your AI team mates to go inside a building (like an air control tower) and defend it from the outside? I noticed if i use DEFEND and point to a ground inside, it doesnt always work to well. How do you get them to stay indoors and shoot out of the windows?

Have them assault building then leave them alone... they will shoot through windows on their own.

Has this worked in the control tower for you?

Nothing works.

If you give the AI the command to assault it will be initiated.

However these problems remain:

1) It takes a long time for them to enter.

2) All soldiers might not go in.

3) The soldiers that do follow orders tend to wander outside once the building
is cleared.

Getting them to hold up somewhere is futile. AI isn't anywhere near that effective.

I wish they were. They aren't.

It just doesn't appear to work. If you tell your guys to defend somewhere, they will find their own positions which usually means some of them run outside for some reason.

Also ever had it that you're hiding behind a wall and under heavy fire... then your AI walks out and goes crouch on the wrong side of the wall only to get shot?

They aren't the sharpest tools in the shed.

They're still better at staying alive than ARMA2 AI squadmates. These guys are pretty pro-active compared to ARMA AIs.

This is true.

In OFP2 I just point to the building and say "defend" and let them sort themselves out. Keep an eye on their icons and instuct "treat wounded" if one of them gets injured.

At 1st I tried to be very pro-active with the AI telling them everything as they'd do dumb things and get killed. I'd go "move" and point to a spot behind cover and they'd all position themselves around the general area but move outside the cover area I wanted them to stay in. Waste of time.

So now when it comes to attacking or defending I give them more general commands and worry more about myself having a good time and not getting killed while I keep a loose eye on them and guide them along. Let them find their own positions.
