I decided it would be nice to make some handy guides for those who have difficulties playing a certain mission. All guides will be written with the Hardcore setting as base. My guides may include screenshots and maps (could be added later). I hope my guides will help you accomplishing the mission. My guides may come in handy for console players as well, but are especially written for PC users. I want to emphasize it is a smart choice for new players to play on normal or experienced mode prior trying hardcore
Mission one is a mission that has been shown to the public for many times (especially before the release). Although it's a relative easy mission without the secundaries, it can be frustrating to do them all for a 100 percent success rate. Hardcore doesn't allow checkpoints, which'll make it even more frustrating to finish a mission. Lets get started. 1: After you've spawned you'll get some information about how to walk, sprint. It's good to read these information popups if you haven't done it before. It might be smart to check the keyboard layout sometimes as well. Press "Escape(Esc)", then left-click on Keyboard Setup. There are certain keys that are worth remembering: *M - This key will bring up the map, it'll be one of your most vital tools to survive *Tab - It shows the accomplished and unaccomplished objectives *1,2,3 etc. - These keys will make you grab the according weapon *Scroll - Browse through your inventory *Z - Lay down *Left CTRL - Crouch *Space - Stand up *Left mouse - Shoot *Right mouse - Aim *E - Interact *Q - Command interface 2: After you are familiar with the controls, walk up to the ammo crates. They are straight in front of you after you've spawned (shouldn't be that hard to find) and press E. Recommended: Pick up the Chinese Marksman rifle, do NOT forget the ammo. This weapon is very precise at long distances and is therefor pretty useful in this mission, way more useful then the M16 which you where spawned with. 3: Continue in the same direction. Press M to see the direction where you're heading too. 4: You will now run into some cover. You'll also receive a message saying "Trident is on the ground". Make sure you're aiming at the house up ahead (150 meters uphill). After the conversation is over, 2 enemies appear. It's smart to take them out before they reach cover. 5: Make sure you team follows you and go uphill. You shouldn't fear for enemy fire while going to the house if you killed the 2 soldiers. 6: Take a look around. You should see a radio masts top. That's the direction you should head into. There are 4 enemies down there. Luckily there's an red barrel next to them. If you shoot that barrel, the explosion may take out 2-3 of them. Make sure you killed all 4 before continueing 7: Make sure you order your team not to follow you, but make them face the village. You can do this by pressing "Q", and then order them to move to a good position where they have a good overwatch. 8: After you made sure you team doesn't follow you, grab the explosives (Press "7") and run up to the radar. After you've laid an charge, the soldier automatically grabs his detonator. if you Right-Click you could lay another charge, but that isn't reccomendable if you want to continue with the secundary targets. 9: Make sure you're away from the radar and blow the charges. Directly grab your marksman rifle (Press "3") and make sure it's set to single fire (press 3 a couple of times if this isn't so, it'll greatly increase your accuracy on distance). Face the village and kill as much of the soldiers as possible 10 (read recommendation as well): You'll get a message the fleet is in range. Grab your binoculars ("F1") and look for the best position to fire at. Then press "Right Shift", "Artillery", "scattered" and "Fire for Effect". The artillery guns will now fire (the shells take about 10 seconds to come in), don't wait around and grab your Marksman Rifle. Reccommended: If you're going to try the secondaries, do NOT use the artillery. 11: Kill the remaining enemies in the village. make sure you do NOT shoot at the friendlies at the other side of the ridge. They can be an useful asset through the mission. There are about 15 enemies, but you shouldn't have problems taking them out since you're not their target. (You can press "M" to see their locations, shame on you). If you're not sure if the guy in your sight is a friend or foe, press Q. If the upper part of the circle says "Attack" you are free to engage since it's an enemy. If it says "Follow Target" you're aiming at a friendly soldier. 12: After you got the message Trident is in an holding pattern, take one of the PLA jeeps. It's reccomendable that you drive the jeep. Make sure everyone is in the jeep (Press Shift, all positions should be taken by your crew, and passenger seats should show 1/6) 13: Drive to the LZ. When Trident reports there are 2 jeeps incoming, you could man the gun by pressing "Shift" and select "Gunner" or hop out as well (you must definitely let you team hop out "Q", "exit. You're going to need all the firepower). 14: Open fire at the soldiers which ejected the jeep, there should be around 8 of them. Make sure you keep an track on them all, since they might feel like flanking you. 15: After you killed all soldiers, Trident will come in. You can take the oppertunity to end the mission by letting your crew into the chopper and yourself as well, or you can continue finishing the secondaries. ----------------------End of Required part------------------------------------ 16: Walk up a little bit (or take the jeep again). You'll see a house on your 10 o' clock (Pretend there's a clock laying on the ground) 12o clock is straight ahead, 9 o clock is to your left, 6o clock is behind you and 3o clock is to your right. 17: There are 2 soldiers in that house. When you opened fire on them, they could stay inside (which will make it hard for you to flush them out) or exit the house on its right side. Make sure you kill them before continuing. WATCH THE ROAD aswell. there might be 2 soldiers who've noticed you and are now running up to you to kill you. You could check the map to see if they're coming for you. 18: Walk up a little bit. When you're on the top of the road, you'll see a barn in front of you. There are 2 soldiers there which should be taken care of prior continuing. If these soldiers already engaged you when attacking the house, you can proceed without danger. 19: It's time to eliminate the sunburn launcher. It should be to your right when you're at the barn. Move up to the hills on your right handside and check the map for the correct location (there's a 1 or 2 at the place of the sunburn missile launcher). It shouldn't be hard to find the missile launcher, it's pretty much in the open. Optional: Take the jeep again and drive it uphill so you can get a clear shot on the Sunburn guards. 20: Kill the guards of the sunburn missile launcher (11 soldiers, 1 squad of 8 patrolling, 3 guards at the site itself). Like the radar station, press "7", charge the sunburn launcher, get away from the site and blow it. 21: This one is going to be a little bit tricky. Directly on the opposite side of the island (left side) theres an Sam Launcher. Do not take the jeep and continue on foot. When you're walking up to the forest prior the SAM, make sure you keep checking your environment, there are 4 soldiers hidden near the forest (on the SAM's side of the forest). you MUST take them out before continuing to the SAM itself. Optional. If you open you map, you'll see a Flag symbol. You can find a Sniper rifle near to it in a big, green box. It's reccomendable for this SAM and the second SAM as well. 22: after you killed the 4 soldiers hidden in the forest, take out the 3-4 SAM guards. It shouldn't be that hard to take them out, especially if you have the sniper rifle. 23: after you're absolutely sure there's no-one there anymore, charge the SAM and blow it. 24: It's a good choice to run back and get the Jeep again. After you did so, continue further down the road until you see a sharp corner. 25: Bail out and Make sure you have a visual on the light house (if you're not exactly sure where to look, open the map). Press "Right shift" "Artillery" "Scattered" "Fire for Effect" and watch the arty do its work. It's reccommendably that you aim at the left side of the encampment at the lighthouse. There's an APC there and it would be nice if the Arty takes it out for you. 25: It's time to walk up a bit on your 4O clock (when facing the lighthouse) and make sure you get a good visual on the old castle high up the hill. There are 4 soldiers behind a sandbag. You must make sure you kill them before continueing. If you have the Sniper Rifle, this should be a peace of cake. Make sure you keep a track on them, they might try to flank you by running downhill at the right side (It shouldn't be that hard to take them out). 26: take your rifle and follow the contours of the hill to the left (heading the light house) You'll see a red barrel and a small shed. Aim there and wait for the next 4 soldiers to walk by it. Open fire when you see them and make sure you kill them (the barrel won't explode when fired at) 27: Order your team to go the old castle which you've cleared in step 25. The sandbags are a good postion for now. 28: You should continue walking on the road heading the light house if your arty took out the APC. If not you should go with your team.

29 (if APC is death, can be seen by lots of smoke): When following the road, keep checking the lighthouse for any enemy activities. Make sure you can get a clear shot on all of them. If they start flanking you it's up to your team to take them out. Keep advancing your team on the hill during your Sniper Assault.
When you're absolutely sure there's no-one left (guarantee you weren't flanked). You can continue and blow up the SAM's. stay aware for possible survivors. After that it's just a matter of returning to Trident (the chopper) which you must have seen at step 15. 29 (If APC is alive): Continue with your team. in the middle of the old castle, you can find some ammo crates. Grab the Javelin Launcher and load it (takes some time). 30: sidewalk slightly to your left, aiming at the lighthouse encampment. The APC should be a bright light. Remember you can only shoot the javelin when you can see about 50 percent of the APC. Don't panic if it starts shooting at you, just make sure you get a lock on it and fire the missile. Then grab your sniper and take out all possible survivors at the lighthouse (keep advancing your team on the hill heading the lighthouse, but let them stay on the hill itself). When you're absolutely sure you weren't flanked, go to the SAM, charge it and take it out. Then go back to Trident which landed at step 15 and end the mission. Sometimes this mission goes solid at the first try, but may be hard as well. everything till step 15 is a peace of cake. the difficulty is in the secondaries.
