I'm with you guys! I love both!

Different games and with some patch support we should see some sweet stuff come out of opf2 as well!

I love Arma 2 and I love Dragon Rising. I'm hoping that CM will patch it up and I'm also hoping that they will release an SDK so we can start modding, only then will the community fully thrive. Both game unfortunately have issues that can't be fixed through patching due to engine limitations but regardless of that both games are still very good in their respective areas.

...

As I mentioned, I love Arma 2 because of it's military simulation style, but I also love Operation Flashpoint : Dragon Rising for it's new blend style of gameplay.

So bring on the SDK and Dedicated Servers and patches and ... yep, that's about it.
you sir are a legend

I agree. Both games have their strengths and weaknesses and both are good. But still I expected more from Dragon Rising. As I expected they do give us a more polished experience. A good menu system that even though it isn't perfect I think its friendlier to use than the on in Arma 2. Some nice squad tactics and stuff. Professions that work as they should. It is easier to get in the game as you respawn where the action is.
It has lots of options available but still not as many as I expected.
If you look at Arma 2, its strength is in the options. That game has pretty much everything we can think off. But lacks the ease of use like putting players in the combat area and stuff like that.
My point is, there is still place to do something a little more like Arma 2 with the ease-of-use of OFDR.
Hopefully the DLC and user created stuff will ease the pain a bit

My dream game would be an Arma2/OpFp2 hybrid, what I mean by that is Arma2 features and content running on a stable and optimised engine. Is that the Ego engine ?... I don't know, it could be with a little more work maybe.

DR kind of hits the spot for me atm, as long as I stay well away from the vehicles.

Exactly my wish. And I bet the wish of most people that play this games. This games still feel empty for me. It seams like they still don't get it.
They all talk about how successful COD games were and how they wish they could reach that success. But they forget to point out the main points for the COD success.

Stability out of the box, Strong single player, Strong Multiplayer, FUN

I'm glad this thread didn't turn into those "My game is better then yours" and that most people here appreaciate both titles for what they are.

I must say, although graphics may not be as "great" as expected (especially after all those trailers), OFDR engine runs great even on older machines and that's a BIG plus meaning, you can put lots of stuff in the mission editor without having to worry about slow framrates..

But you can also look at it this way: had DR had a splendid never-seen-before ueber cool graphics, people would complain about FPS, optimizations etc. etc.

I guess they made a nice compromise between these two!

I also agree with OP.
I LOVE ARMA2 and there is nothing that comes even close to the full imersion and battlefield simulation (appart from VBS of course)

Once CM release the patch and fix the obvious problems I will enjoy OFP|DR on a different level. Its easier to get into for a quick blast and instant action. Once MP is working (hopefully) it will be fun too. Anyone remember 'Joint Operations'? OFP|DR is a more advanced BF2, JointOps, CoD kinda thing.

^^^ Yes, to above post #24. The ideal game would be ARMA2 with EGO engine.
...but there isn't a big town on Skira so that may be a part of the smoothness...

You guys are damn right. ED-case's post really hits the spot. Basically it's a different kind of fun for me. I can easily appreciate both. Although I do like A2 better, this is a damn good game. CM should be happy with what they've done here. Just get out the SDK in a timely manner. Bugs don't really bother me. Neither did they in A2.

Breadfan,
Nah, many of us here are active members of the BIS community as well. We've stuck with those games through thick and thin so we can appreciate what the developers are ultimately trying to do for us gamers. It's tasteless to mindlessly rip a game and the developers and a waste of time.

you cant like both, are you nuts?

You are allow to like only one of these games and bitch and whine about the other like there was no tomorrow.

You have to create account on BIS forums and voice your opinion at least 52 times as well or until you get banned.
