Hello fellow gamers,
I'm JB270 and I've been an active online gamer for over a decade now. Playing games like: - Task Force Dagger (Delta Force), - Joint Operations (and all add-ons), - Black Hawk Down (and Team Sabre), - Joint Operations, - Battlefield 2, - Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare. Now I was looking forward to be playing Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. And on October 7th I finally got hold of the game! After trying it for a couple of days (and reading all about it on the internet), it’s time to write a First Impression Report (PC version). Im really looking for the right words to describe the game... because CM raised very high expectations with their endless trailers, over the last year. But I'll give it a try... Pros: + The game play is something else, if you're used to play "standard" FPS. The fire team can come in very handy in a heavy gunfight. + The sound is great, weapons sound real and if you enter a building, it changes to a more hollow sound. + Co-op/Campaign game levels have a nice story book. Cons: - Bugs: Unbelievable that CM released (after a 1 year delay) a game with so many bugs in it. You'll find a 11 pages (and counting) of bug reports on this forum. - AI: Cool feature, but not really a help. The soldiers tent to get themselves killed by running into your field on fire. - Vehicles: Not hard to drive, a trailers once said... well WRONG! Did CM put the Dirt II engines in the cars? Because they are way to fast but with an ultra slow handling. Not to speak about flying a helicopter... - Support: The PC version of this game is clearly a Xbox port… ![]() Sound, graphic and mouse-settings are just not what you may expect from a new game. - Multi player: Pppfff the toughest part to write… HUGE PILE OF GARBAGE?! TOTAL CRAP!? EPIC FAIL!? You choose, cause I have no words for this. It just feels like I was ripped off… (honest). CM promised a mind blowing Player vs Player multi player. But how’s that possible with NO server tools and patches for dedicated servers? The box does say: “Dedicated host server recommended for optimum performance”!? Proof that CM was focused on the Xbox (Live) market from the start. The lack of having a CD key and a proper anti-cheat program, sets the door right open for future hackers. - Hit boxes: “How real do you want it?” Was just another fraise used by CM to promote the game. Well I’ve been in the Army for over 13 years and know my weapons, trust me. The feel and sound real and the weapon handling is spot on… However the aim is complete nonsense!!! You can’t make a game hard by making a clean headshot at 100 meters miss. That’s just frustrating, especially when the AI guy turns 180 degrades and kills you with the first shot. Conclusion: CM has developed a old game in a new jacket (DX9 are you kidding me!) Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising does have potential, but only if CM addresses the PC community with the support it deserves. If not I'll bet you that the game will be dropped faster than you can type “Dragon Rising”. And a lot of players will move on to a game like Modern Warfare 2… For now, this was my First Impression Report. Please let CM now how you feel about the PC version, by answering the poll question. And feel free to comment my report… Greets, JB270

Im a PC player.... and i feel s hafted.
Looks to me like CM totally sold out to the console market ![]() While elements of this game are REALLY REALLY good its so let down by the fact that its so obviously a console port to PC and it reflects badly. Some things not released/wrong with the game really do make me think wth CM are doing. Seems with the fact of nocdkey needed is financial suicide for the Pc market and creates bad feelings for those of us who have bought it. Please do right by the PC community and release the mod tools and dedicated servers. I wouldnt care less if PC users didnt get any thing else for DLC just those two requirements will be great, thanks. If your feeling generous then an SDK will be good too After all might as well seen as everyone has it now... one way or another :S

I think this game will entertain me until MW2 is released. What more can I ask? This game is what it is, and that's all. If they ever provide dedi server suport, ok, cool, if not, well... whatever.

Im a PS3 player and im happy that codemasters brought this type of game to the console. No other game has ever been out for the console like this one. CP players have all the best gaming and us console players are NO different from you....We want good games. My only complaint, well two complaints. !. The servers are the worse ever. Can't stay connected, host leaves and the game ends for us all. 2. Lack of Multi-player maps. This game will be a PS3 classic if they fix these two issues. 2 thumbs up from America.

I neither like the hitbox system in the game, i have a 22inch screen when i scope my rifle i have a 22 x 30 cm vizer in my screen, and i have to aim at a enemy that is 3 mm big. You have to shoot them many times before they are dead, and they shoot 1 or 2 times and its over.
The cars ride with high speed, but steering it, its to slow. (forgive me my bad english, i am not a native speaker) |

Agreed, £17. It does have its faults ( my AI running in front of me when I am shooting ) and then me capping them in the head but, I am enjoying the single player. Only on Mission 4 (Airport One) but so far it is a bit of fun. Not what the demos on YouTube would have had you believe though.

Alrite.. let's face the truth, this is the "final" products. It as been delivered as it is.
I m in fact disappointed because I was expecting something different, inlines with the dinamic of uor previus title. By the way I wont shoot on the medic, but geez.. We are bound as we are right now. The low terrian LOD kick in at the phantasmagoric deafult value of: 750m - which is kinda INSERT PHRASE HERE. The major issue for now and it's middle future is the current handled AI: 63 it's not even a number in this very scenario. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KK6Fo3Y0AU&hd=1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zhS4DuML5Q&hd=1 Last but not least the filesystem AES encrypted which are provided instead are even worse cause it is not modder friendly duo the fact there no official tools provided for. <override platform="win"/> <!-- more memory used on windows for player base 'fix'-->
