I understand you would support this game if server files weren't made available. I mean that's a rational decision anyone running an organization like yours would make, including me. But it is to premature to jump to the conclusion that there won't be. I mean it wouldn't OFP if you didn't have server files. I mean that's one of many positives that made the original so great. I'm in the same boat as you waiting for this information. I have a dedicated box just sitting in some data center collecting dust, waiting to be used for our glorious cause. NOTE: Download Sir Polaris' OFPDR tool bar to stay informed of recent news related to the game. http://operationflashpointtoolbar.ourtoolbar.com/ and The OFP2 Newsletter / Mailing list

Even it's not confirmed, I think having server files is such a mandatory thing nowdays we shouldn't be worried about it. But the quality, options and variables it provides is a question... But this issue's been discussed on various threads -> nuff said.

The fact of the matter is, it's not worth worrying about. The mere fact that the game has multi-player at all dictates that we'll have a method of playing together. Communities need not worry.

Dedicated servers will be released later and not with the release of the game. It has been said in an interview or preview. Dunno in which interview/preview exactly.

Let me tell those of you who don't know about Farcry 2. The first farcry was a awesome with full server browser and dedicated servers everywhere.
FC2 was of course expected to be the same, but it was soon realized that it was a dumbed down console port to PC. They had absolutely no functioning browser and no join in progress....and only a lobby style thing where one guy would host and the server would have huge lags....you couldnt find players in your own clan (what server they were on) and at the end of each game, you would get kicked back out to the lobby! You couldnt even play a couple rounds on the same server! No server files were release and the entire PC "community" was dead withing a couple weeks. So don't think for one second that it can't happen; biggest dissapointment for our clan and others EVER. |

I cant believe theres no dedicated servers for PC at launch.
Has MP gaming gone by the wayside? FC2 was a joke on consoles aswell. I know codemasters doesnt have a large rep when it comes to online titles. But geez, I now know I will not be upgrading my PC.
