Default No command menu in co-op?

I just read in one of the previews (link at the end of this post) that the command menu is gone if u r the Team leader in CO op so u must chat to get your plan across.

i was kind of disappointed to hear that. chatting is a bad way of communicating and on the PS3 and PC u wont necessarily have a mic to help communications.

also it seems that if this is the case than u can't play with a team made of some humans and some AIs....
well, thinking about it, since we read that one a human is dropped out an AI will take his place than it probably means that u CAN play with a devided team but how can u issue commands to the AIs? does that mean the humans won't see commands given to the AIs? why not? feels like a waste of good opportunity.

it seems like an oversight to not include the radial menu for co-op. adding markers of where to go or who to suppress could have gone a long way.
with the addition of the tether i feel that coordination will only happen among friends in co-op as strangers will result in a very poor co-op experience where everyone is doing their own thing while trying to guess what the situation is calling for.

here's the link to the article:
http://www.incgamers.com/Previews/125/?gr_i_ni
the statement is at the end where the writter describes COOP mode.

even if many gamers WILL have mics it still seems weird to rely on them. some gamers do not use the mic, dont like chatting to ppl online, dont like ppl online chatting with them, dont like to play with the volume high enough to understand verbal commands and many many other reasons.

also what this probably means is that we can't create missions (PC editor) making the player anyone else BUT the team leader, since the AI team leader wont be able to convey commands to the player.

so many limitations....

In my experience playing online with the PS3 I find very few people who have a mic or talk at all.

I think this is what he is referencing.

Many of them for example don't speak English fluently and it's usually hard to find a good local server in small countries...

At 1:28 in the COOP video you see two objective markers. One is the main one called "Protect POWS" the other one is just "Move". I guess this means the fire team leader made an order to move there to, and the others get the order. I think this was also stated in another thread

Well sometimes I get so annoyed at how many people have a mic but arent using it,just making a whole bunch a noise and hearing echos from their TV. Thats half the reason I bought a mic myself before game designers got the bright idea to put a mute function I could just turn on the mic and throw it aside so I didnt have to listen to people.

I have a feeling he would have done the same thing if it said xbox 360 there instead of ps3.
