Was looking at the awesome menu in the 'Spec Ops' mission video, and I noticed this. Sorry in advance if it has been noticed.
http://i29.tinypic.com/2ewp9j9.jpg Ok, so, first, top left, is the name. I'm not sure on this, but it seems like the name of your soldier in some missions is either your choice, or taken from your PSN/Xbox/Steam/Computer name. Secondly, in the middle, a nice little round-up of missions. It looks like the first two are 'preping' in the island for attack, and the rest of the missions have you invading with the USMC - with mission names like United We Stand and Eagle Offense. Also, mission 8, it seems like a person by the name of Lois will play an important part - maybe the 'main bad guy', ot a team mate you must find and rescue. Finally, top right. You'll see that Dragon Rising is the title for this group of missions (it might by a synopsis of the first mission, but this seems unlikly becasue A) you have the second mission selected and B) the 'Hardcore' tab is a 'choice' tab, allowing you to chose difficulty, so the top one probably provides a choice too). To the right, it says 1/2. To me, this indicates that there is a separate part of game, not focusing on the 'Chinese Invasion of Skira' - what it could focus on is anyones guess (Russian involvment, not set on Skira, WMD, etc etc etc). Anyway, it's just something I found, and I thought it might provide a bit of readin' for y'all. Thanks. |

Spec Ops and USMC Grunt are to different campaigns. One is a prelude and the other is a core. Thats what I presume that number to be.
Ranking you highlighted is part of the storyline. Although it seems the SF mission is included in the first tier, so beats me. Also whats a PVT doing leading a small group of SF troops? I presume they are in "every unlocked mode" and rank is at lowest setting default, sorta deal. |

It could also be that the other part consists just of some singleplayer missions which don't have anything to do with the campaign. Like in OFP:CWC there was a campaign and some singleplayer missions.

I meant missions which have nothing to do with the story. For example console gamers don't get access to tanks and helis in the campaign and don't have the mission editor. There would be singleplayer missions where you can fly a AH-1Z and have to destroy a PLA convoy (just an example)

It's possible that, the other section is for DLC missions, possible but don't hold me to that.
