Default Patriotism gotta love it

Hello,

Firstly I'd like to apologise for my igonorance, I really couldn't be bothered to search my way through your rather scaled forumn to find a decent answer to my query. I'm glad to see everything has really kicked off for you guys and I'm rather excited to see more content being kindly released by yourselves. Back to the point; being born a Londoner and some what of a patriot for my country I wanted to ask a couple of questions regarding the matter in relation to the game. Does Dragon Rising just follow a general storyline of American (common and boring) / Chinese ethnicity or are we going to have the opportunity to play as British/other nationalities?

On a positive note - I'm so glad to see something decent created by us Brits for a change! I'm quite gutted I never knew about the event day in London, I wonder where it was.... If it was anywhere near Bond Street I'm going to cry....

Thanks for your time,

Rob

First welcome buddy. You can only play as Americans or Chinese in this game, sadly no British. Agree it's nice to see a cool brit game made over here for a change. BTW the showing was done at a hotel somewhere near oxford circus.

I'm sure there will be PC mods for stuff like this. CM is also talking about DLC, which could or could not include new factions into the mix. They are also hinting at even new campaigns via DLC, so it's hard to tell at this point.

Argh *******s. I'm so gutted I missed the event, I literally work above the central line exit of Bond Street station which is about 5 minutes away from most hotels in the Oxford Circus area... I'm such a fan of your work btw. The original Operastion Flashpoint is still one of my fav games even though the graphics are shoddy compared to most games now days. I do understand that modifications will most likely provide additional options for gameplay my only concern is that it'll also cause various other problems as they aren't generally tested very well and mess the general genre of the game up.
Thanks for the speedy reply,
Rob

I'd love to see a game of this scale involving the British Army for once <_<

The only time we get a part in games is when they want to shove the SAS in.

Well Rob from whats been said sounds like PC Mission Editor will allow you to create a entire British campaign if you wanted to. As for consoles it seems players are beginning to speculate new campaigns being released as DLC. but the console part isn't confirmed that I know of.

The reason CM chose us marines, is because people in America will buy the game, one of the biggest gaming countries dont forget

Its a shame i know, but we can't have everything in life

I agree that the whole "america saves the world" genra is way, way overused, but seen as its mostly americans who buy games i guess its fair enough. Would be very nice to see a change though!

How about, U.S marines sent on peacekeeping duties in some country. It goes tits up and a conflict begins. Soon both U.S and U.K marines are working together to resolve the conflict. Then things worsen and local forces from the country your in start helping out.

And maybe rather than chinese, german and russian enemies, we could be fighting Taliban or IRA or something. That would be awesome!
