Jumpgate Evolution preview on G4TV’s XPlay
G4TV have recently released a quirky and fun preview of Jumpgate on XPlay, a dedicated gaming channel, which displays new and exciting footage of Jumpgate gameplay. You can watch the full 2 minutes 44 seconds video on their XPlay’s Preview page Last edited by Liquilla; 06-08-2008 at 06:38 PM. Reason: Fixed linkage |

I only noticed two things that I hadn't seen on any other videos:
Docking with Bleakstone Station looked very very easy compared to JGC. I understand that one of the stated goals is to make it likely that a total newbie will be able to complete the first mission on his first try... but I can hear the JGC veterans warming up the flamethrowers right now. Maybe different stations will be trickier to dock with? I liked the visual effect when the ship bounced off the rocks. Looked like some damage was being done.

Very, very nice.
I wonder if you could answer a question though, on graphics scalability? Many of have heard about how the game has been designed to scale down for older PC's, which is my opinion a great idea - too many games are being designed and released with the view that the customer needs to go and spend huge amounts of cash for new kit just to run the game (Vanguard/AoC anyone?) My question is regarding scaling the other way. I do happen to have quite a high end machine, and I upgrade/add to it regularly - as a hobby. What I am interested to know is will the client offer some really nice high end options? If so - what kind and to what level? Also - from this vid I have to comment that the explosions although O.K - don't seem very grand in any way. maybe I am spoilt as I play probably the only 'other' Space MMO at the minute and the explosions are epic in that particular game, something I get a lot of enjoyment from. Will there be any options to scale up things like this? I hope someone in the know can give me feedback on this. Thanks. Boney |

Hate to be the one to say it, BUT WHERE OH WHERE IS THE FPV?
Also the more videos I see of JGE in 3rd person the more it’s starting to look like a console game, and not the ground breaking MMO PC based game people were hoping for. edit: post at same time as IQ

so basically jge will be a mix between freelancer and freespace.
i just hope the speed/scale system changes during beta or its not gonna be ground breakin at all or flight sim fans are gonna be disappointed. u wanna see how the space flight engine is done, see the demo of starshatter. even in 3rd person view in ss, it still gives an immersion of you gliding through space. |
