Default Is it just me?

What is it with the people who design these games?
Are they so busy coding they don't get a chance to play them?

I can live with the game taking four attempts to run properly.
I can live with a Friends list that doesn't actually do anything except show you they're online.
I can live with running back to the tavern after every mission and doing nothing for a few minutes.

As much as these things waste my time, it's D&D baby! We've been waiting for this for so long! You gotta love it!

But WTF are Kobolds doing casting Spells with permanent durations on level one missions ?
Curse has a -4 penalty to 'ToHitRolls', AC, and Skill checks. Thats Heavy.
They cast it at range, contradicting D&D rules.
It's not even possible for a level 3 cleric to cast that spell in D&D rules, they're meant to be atleast Level 9!

So we have level two characters subject to effects intended for level 9 characters. Only way to remove the effect at this level is spend half my gold on potions. One party member couldn't even afford the potions needed, because a bug in the game had made us permanantly blind too!

These is no justification for this kind of idiocy.

Interesting point is that several people noticed this and told everyone about it during Beta. And here I am, *this* angry after the game has launched.

I'm sitting here thinking if I want to bother playing this MMO when there's so many others out there and it's this badly thought out.

Bah. I have to say I am not *that* known with the D&D rules. If this is true though, and I do believe you, then they must do something about this.

I also noticed kobolds are VERY strong compare to what they are.

No monster casts curse in level 1 difficutly. The only place in the harbor where kobolt shammans cast curse is on the Butcher's path at Hard difficulty level (which is a level 3 mission). Obviously someone set it on hard you had a difficult time. Talk to a friendly cleric to have your curse removed (level 5 and higher)

This one was cast during the "Hazadrill's Warehouse" (Not sure on that spelling)

We did do the quest twice, once on "normal" and once on "hard"
We did get cursed a lot more the second time, (Three out of five party members) but our cleric got cursed the first time round.

Anyway, the point I made is the same, even on Hard it's a Level 2 quest, so a Level 3 Kobold shaman is expected and good fun.
But a level 3 anything casting improved versions of spells intended for level 9 casters is just dumb.

Why not have the effect vanish while resting in a tavern? I would still argue that the effect is over powerfull to use on a level 2 party but atleast there would be a counter effect after you leave the quest.

Or even have a temple around for fixing such things in exchange for a donation. Those white robed dudes are happy to cast "Raise Dead" on you and carry you off to a tavern, but they can't lift curses?

The very fact that I'm here having to type about this suggests it's annoying paying customers. I know I'm not the only one.

Kaju, you don't by any chance have a high level cleric on the Boldrei server do you?

Or know of one who can be on hand to lift our curses?

Just a little correction, bestow curse is a 3rd level cleric spell, wich means it takes a 5th level cleric to cast it (and a 5th level cleric to remove it as well).

I think its a great idea to have the rez dudes in the taverns remove "permanent" ill effects - for a small donation of cause.
The potions can be more expensive but then you can carry them with u if you want..

I'm afraid I don't have one on Bolderei sorry.
Just go to the social panel (ctrl + G ), go to player search and search for clerics who are above level 5. Send them a tell and wait for their answer. Most will gladly help you.

You're totally correct of course, I think maybe I shouldn't be relying on 2nd Edition handbooks!

But the truth is: "takes a 5th level cleric to cast it, or a 3rd level Kobold"

Important to remember though that the challenge lvl of a kobold is equal to its character level -3 or 0.25 if it has no character levels (p161 3.5ed MM), so what is showing up as a Challenge Level 3 Kobold Shaman is really a lvl 6 Kobold Cleric maybe?

So there you have it. The question then is, can I be a Kobold? They absolutely rock for their challenge rating, I think +3 levels for a few niggling disadvantages is a pretty sweet deal, especially early on.

But really I don't see any justification in Bestow Curse being so prevalent so early. The beginning missions are incredibly easy but you can't increase the difficulty levels because that just makes them expensive. It's bad games design to make attacks that have no cure without warning.
