Default The Upcomming Expansion to Asheron's Call 1

A game that competed with Everquest for a long time and was a bridge between the giant and Dark Ages of Camelot is now back with another expansion pack. Amazingly enough, 6 years after its release, Asheron's Call has outlived it's sequel and many other MMORPGs. With it's return to Turbine Entertainment and SOE producing this new expansion pack to give it the love required to compete with current MMOs, what do you think will happen to Asheron's Call:Throne of Destiny?

Very interesting... I never played AC1... and I always felt as though I missed something from talking to all the avid supporters of the game. Too bad that I recently went from being a $ rich dude to a poor one, RL always steps in to fix those sort of things for us doesn't it...

Something to put on my wish list.

It is always hard to say what will happen with these kind of games. AC1 was and is my favorite game. In the last four years that I play this game, I have looked into other games, but always returned to AC1.
Now the first hype of WoW is over, you see more and more "old" players of AC1 returning en I know that many others are waiting to return when the expansion pack is released.

I expect for AC1 for the coming months a growing number of players, but for how long ..... it will depends on the new features and what other games will bring.

Anyway AC1 has a rather large groupe of hard core players, so I think this game will last for many years to come.

Whew! Now I'm allowed to say something

When you first posted this I was dying to say but was under strict orders...

I'm of the same opinion as Rob, not having played it the first time around, I feel like I missed out on something. I get the sense that there's a real loyal following and I have been surprised by how many fansites are still operational!

From what I've seen of the expansion packs so far they have certainly put a lot of work into it. I think the original players will be chuffed as there's a ton of new content in both expansion packs and new players who are tired of the most recent offerings might like to give this a go as it's quite intriguing. The characters have a very unique look, their style is great!

Anyhow, take a look for yourselves, we've set up a microsite here: www.codemasters.com/asheronscall

If you have any questions I'll do my best to answer you direct, or find someone who can!

Just one question:

When will we be able to actually order the game?

It looks as if it is not possible.

Or is it just that the AC players of Europe are currently sinking your poor servers?

Btw:

The site is _not_ a pretty sight and hard to maneuvre, but I _want_ the game.

Hi MeTa,

Thank you for your comments and welcome to the MMO discussion forum.

The pre-order isn't available for ordering just yet but will be shortly. Be sure to keep checking back from time to time or watch out for our announcements.

I have some questions written down in another thread on these board. These are:

Question 1: will it be possible in Europe to pre-order the gamepack to get the bonus topic of the game?

Question 2: if possible, what will the price of this extra topic be?

Question 3: if you own more then 1 account, do you have to order for each account a gamepack?

Question 4: will the game be available in the retail gameshops in Holland or must the order be placed at Codemaster?

It will be appriciated if the managers of these boards can give some answers.

I'm seeing a question on the Turbine forums asking how people in other countries in Europe can order it (when it becomes available).. specifically Denmark and Sweden.. any ideas ?
