ok, we got a lot of spells already in the game, but a lot of them seem pretty useless for doing appropriate damage. good example would be melfs acid arrow. costs pretty much for a pretty small effect.
another thing is that you have only dmg spells with fire dmg until you get lightning bolt on lvl 5 and ice storm at lvl 7 if you are a wiz. and you really get a lot of enemys with fire immunity or resistance but even as wiz you can only rely on fire spells. would be cool if there would be some low lvl spells with different effects and good effect against the right foes. |

what about shocking grasp and magic missile? both level 1 spells without fire dmg.
And melfs acid arrow isnt that bad, (havent got the books within reach atm) should do like 1d8 on hit then it does dmg over time aswell.

its mistery to why you can choose glaciation as enchantment because chill touch does negative energy dmg as far as i remember so glaciation has absolutly no purpose because there ar no ice dmg spells on lvl 1.

Best form of damage is crowed control.As a wizard I leave damage to others.
If I stop the npc hitting the group I done my job. plus there also control spells. In Stormgleave I used suggest on giants and had them fighting for me and web and grease for CC.and this on hard. Jnr |

Acid Arrow's not that bad once you get used to it. The damage it shows you is just for the initial hit, it definitely seems to do more damage than that, as it should. It started to become really useful for me at 6th level, that's when I regularly saw it dissolve things. It's best advantage is its range, though. It's nice to have for trolls, too.
Shocking Grasp is a magnificent spell early on for non-fire damage, and Magic Missile is one of the few spells that deals force damage, a type that almost nothing is resistant to. In general though, the best damage spells at low levels are fire damage spells. It sort of makes sense, it's the most innately destructive element.
