Is Cure Light Wounds more spell point efficient than Cure Moderate Wounds?
If I am healing my party after a fight (ie. with no time constraint) am I better to use CLW or CMW? Clearly CMW may be better in a fight because it is faster, but not necessarily after the fight... Anyone know? |

The numbers conferm to PnP it depends on the lvl. But it also depens on what typ of enhancement you have. |

Hmmm.
A level 3 cleric will do, for 20 sp 2 x Cure Light - 2d8+6 (essentially) Cure Moderate - 2d8+3 So 2xCL gives 8-22 pts of healing vs CM giving 5-19 Note that at later levels this may not hold true as CL caps at +5 Hmm. A lvl 10 cleric 2 x CL is 2d8+10 CM is 2d8+10 So it takes to lvl 10 for them to equalise out. And it's similar for Cure Serious actually. I think that at least all the way to the current level cap it's better to use Cure Light.

i thought
Cure Light Wounds = 10SP 1d8 +lvl (max 5) = 6-11 at Lvl 5 | 6 -11 at Lvl 10 Cure Moderate Wounds = 15SP 2d8 +lvl (max 10) = 7-21 at Lvl 5 | 12-26 at Lvl 10 Cure Serious Wounds = 20SP 3d8 +lvl (max 15) = 8-29 at Lvl 5 | 13-34 at Lvl 10 Cure Critical Wounds = 25SP 4d8 +lvl (max 20) = 9-37 at Lvl 5 | 14-42 at Lvl 10 Say 20SP CLW = 2x = 12-22 | 12-22 CMW = 1x = 7-21 | 12-26 CSW = 1x = 8-29 | 13-34 CCW = 0x = 0- 0 | 0- 0 Say 50SP CLW = 5x = 30-55 | 30-55 CMW = 3x = 21-63 | 36-78 CSW = 2x = 16-58 | 26-68 CCW = 2x = 16-74 | 22-84 Say 150SP Lvl 5 10 15 20 CLW = 15x = 90-165 | 90-165 | 90-165 | 90-165 CMW = 10x = 70-210 | 120-260 | 120-260 | 120-260 CSW = 7x = 56-203 | 91-238 | 126-273 | 126-273 (10SP left) CCW = 6x = 54-222 | 84-252 | 114-282 | 144-312 If you have some healing spell enhancements (Feats/Enhancment) then the Higher-Lvl Spell is more effeted. If you dont use any healing spell enhancments then lower spells should be useful. In general it depends on how important is is to heal for you. Maybe some Spell-Lvl Slots needed for other Spells. If im wrong plz post it, im not sure about SP. |

I was wondering about that too.
Sadly i dont know the exact numbers. I know for sure that CLW costs 10sp and CMW (as all lvl 2 cleric spells) 15sp, so i would suppose lvl 3 costs 20, lvl 4 25 sp. I also heard that 1st lvl healing heals for 1d8+lvl 2nd lvl for 2d8+lvl 3rd lvl for 3d8+lvl 4th lvl for 4d8+lvl if these assumptions are correct, the least mana intensive way of healing would be the CLW spell, except for lvls 3 and 4, where it would be CMW (starting at lvl 5 it would be CLW again). Greater Devotion will make the CLWs even better. Im not sure about the influence of Metamagic feats though, as i'm lacking the numbers needed to calculate their efficiency. And of course time can also be a critical factor, so you might want to use the bigger heals if time is the bottleneck and not spellpoints. |

Interesting thred guys, anyone confirmes how much the healing does yet?
is it definately xD8+lvl where x is spell level? Id like to do some calcs based on different builds to try and improve my clerics healing ability (and knowq which spells I should be using if I have a choice) Im certainly finding with empower healing + enhancement II and Improved devotion 2 that CLW and CMW are much more effective than CSW. Think ill make a nice spreadsheet and see where it goes

Hmm replying to myself.... sign of instanity or am I just THAT sad hehe
Anyways just a quick thought/problem with feats/enhancements. How do they stack? (Please correct my figures if wrong as it's from memory as im in work :P ) eg. Empower: +50% Devotion: +205 Imp Devotion: +30% Greater Devotion: +40% Now I understand that the devotions don't stack but empower does (I think) but how does it work is it : * roll x 1.5 for empower x 1.2/1.3/1.4 (dependant on dev level) or * roll + (1.5xroll) + (1.2/1.3/1.4 x roll) |

CLW will typically be more cost efficient out of combat. In combat, the higher level spells are better, even necessary. This is partly due to the use of spell points rather than the original fixed number of spells/level.
Note that I've not tested this, but am going by experience with the two systems in PnP.

Actually I think that this comparing is a bit missplaced.
In a real combat I found myself using all the heals for the party. CLW to the mages CMW to the others (and tanks) CSW to the tanks ect.. the reason for using all the heals is the cooldowns. All of the heal use their own CD so you can spam 3 different heals constantly. In the heat of the battle I don't stop wondering what would be most mana efficient but what would keep my team alive the best. |
