Default What crowd control spells do you use most?

Hey guys!
This is to be a thread to discuss about your spell choice and how you use them to do crowd control. I am just really curious about your replies. Maybe it will an enrichment for this forum.

Hyponotice on the low lvls Just target a big group of mobs and have your warrior wack them one at the time. Web is also quite usefull, Nothing like a mob that can't do anything. Charm is also nice if the sorc/wiz consentrates on it the whole instance. Never did that myself though just grouped with a sorc who liked to charm and did it through a delaras tomb run.

Default Not much option...

As Cleric lvl 2, it has to be Command. Short but sweet, like this post.
I always take one offensive on adventures and in full aprties on lengthy quests Command is the one I go for, every time.

At the moment i use blind, Hold person and Bestow curse mostly.

Blind is really great since all casters seem to be very confused when they get it seen a fire reaver cast spells against a wall for like 2min :P, and fighters get a real hard time dealing any dmg to you. (-4 to hit and 50% misschance)

Hold person is nice to throw on fighter types since they dont have good save against it and they go down very fast since every hit on a held mob is automatic critical. (one more level until hold monster )

Bestow curse i use mainly to get phantasmal to stick more often (and even if they save you still got a good debuff).

I used charm in end of beta quite much but its to unpredicteble when they save from the spell so i rarely use it anymore. Thou it can be quite fun, one time in abandoned keep when we had about 5 or 6 of elementals and a flesh render fighting at our side, we just let them do our job and watched the army go at their friends. :P

I always don't know when (and if) to cast

web - or - hynotic pattern

sleep - or - hypnotise (hyptnotic pattern)

and if there is any need of spells like grease, Obscuring Mist and all the expansions of these spells (of higher levels). I am always a bit confused if I should debuff or hold and when to do what...

Web all the time even holds named npcs.
Suggest was good in beta.
Grease will put Giants on there arse and names and your party.
Halt Undead will immobile up to 3 undead types including Wraiths.

Web, web, web and couple of more webs.

Getting Slow most likely aswell, but Web is definately the *best* CC spell around.

so many ppl mention web so i have to share one of my favorite uses for that spell..

first cast a fireball at the group (just to get the HP down abit), then web them to get maximum effect of the ice storm you cast after ^^
cast another fireball and quickly web again. you should now have most of the aggro of the group but most of them are stuck and cant touch you. now its easy for the fighters can take out the ones that broke free and the ranged can get the ones that still are stuck

Nice to see that the discussion is running!

WEB:

In the 3.5 rules says fire will break the web. As I had a closer look to that I recognized that this seems not to be in DDO. Casting firespells doesn't seem do break the web. (Aggree?)Some things which might be interesting to find out may be how often creatures must do a saving throw.

The nice on web is that u can attack the mobs traped in the web and they cant do anything and the web doesn't break.

HALT UNDEAD:

Halt Undead also should break the effect when the target takes damage. In DDO the target is completly helpless and the effect stays although it gets damaged! (Aggree?)

You can say that a target that gets halt by your spell is almost dead.



Maybe someone has some more informations about hypnotism and sleep spells. I always got the same problem to decide between them! Over and above that it would be nice if somebody maybe could explain the DDO effect of "suggestion" a bit more.

fireball and burning hands does burn up the web.

edit:
just saw you said something bout the suggestion spell...
it seem to just charm monsters, but i only tried it a few times so i cant really say anything about any differences so leave that to someone else
