Default Suggestions for class traits.

Regardless of the pet pathing issues and our uselessness against anything undead, I have to say that I'm more than happy with the Lore-master. However, I can't help but feel a couple (by a couple I mean most) of our traits are either:

a) A bit bugged or...

b) A bit lackluster.

Almost all Lore-masters I've seen take Master of the Staff because, let's face it, it's that damned good. Other than that however I can't think of any non-Legendary trait that doesn't seem like anything other than filler. Harmony with Nature is pretty damned good with chopping 1/4 of the cast-time off of all our offensive spells but the power reduction side is currently bugged, Awareness of Body is a good idea as it helps counterbalance the ridiculous morale cost of our offensive abilities but it just isn't enough for the trait, Beast-Lore is fairly good but I can't help but feel that the increase in health and damage isn't really enough and should probably be bugged a bit and Flames of Anor seems a little bit disappointing in its current incarnation as it only adds 10% to one damage type (which only a maximum of 3 of our spells even use). Personally I'd like to see traits like:

Awareness of Body

Decreases the morale cost of all your overt offensive spells by 40% and increases the chance of resisting 'spell knock-back' from damage by 50%. Currently our pets are a little bit hit and miss with regards to tanking and having to tank and cast our damage spells is a bit of a pain in the arse.

Beast-Lore/Master of Beasts

Personally I think these two traits should be combined or at least buffed to a good degree.

Flames of Anor

Increases fire damage by a fair amount more. Perhaps 20% instead? Perhaps a decrease in the cast time of Burning Embers, Cracked Earth and the Ents go to War?

Harmony with Nature

As far as I can see the power decrease side of this trait is bugged and isn't working. The cast time reduction is great but I'd like to see something that also decreases the time between casting spells.

So, how does the rest of the Lore-master community feel about our traits? Do you think they're fine in their current incarnations or do you feel they could do with a bit of tweaking?

All your mentioned points seem valid to me. The only thing I would add is to improve our healing capabilities.

Add to one of our healing traits that the "inner flame" spell becomes a heal over time, can be casted on other people, and the amount healed is greatly increased.

Futhermore the blinding flash trait should enable the skill to be used on every single mob out there (except bosses of course), same goes for the Lore trait in my opinion.


This would give us the possibilities to be much more vialbe in fellowships, which is one of my main concerns at the moment (only against undead encounters, which are failry often.)

Also a trait to improve the power transfer abilitie I haven't seen. I would like to have it combined with the healing traits, so it would be much more efficient (takes less power from you and gives more to your target)

I haven't come up with any specific numbers, these are just my thoughts on the matter.

We have 3 fire damage spells? As far as I know only burning embers is fire damage and using a trait slot to get a 10 damage increase to it does seem like a bad idea.

No real comment here other than I absolutely agree. One thing I don't understand is why Wind-lore seems to work on everything yet Fire-lore doesn't. Me and a friend of mine always thought it was strange how Blinding Flash and Fire-lore don't work on undead yet his bleed effects do...

An ability to increase the efficiency of power transfer would certainly be an awesome addition.

Cracked Earth also does fire damage and so does the Ents go to War, as far as I'm aware. Still doesn't make it the best trait in the world though.

This is a great idea and makes perfect sense. After so many casts the LM's knowledge reaches a point where they are capable of stubtly changing the invocation to allow wider use.
