I know that on the Turbine site it saying the game is to be released some time in 2006, my question is this. If there are places selling pre order for the game and are saying it will be out in 5/1/2006 will the bets be long or short? and if its short will it be ready to go? I know other MMO's have taken 6 months to years to beta test there MMO's before going gold.

As for Beta, I'm guessing 4 - 6 months, but that's just me.

The game wil have lots and lots of bugs. It's imposible to test all the hardware configs and strange errors keep popping up all the time. (if you change the settings from 1280x1024 4xAA to 1024x768 0xAA some textures go black on a ATI radeon GPU whith a intel motherboard and a soundfusion soundcard for example thats imposible to test in house) so yes there will be bugs in the game but hey... every game has

I think your missing the point slightly here. Yes the game is going to be bugged because its MEANT to be bugged.
Its BETA TESTING which means we are there to find the bugs so that the released version doesnt have them. If you get into BETA please keep this in mind as you venture though, The more bugs the beta testers find and get squashed the less (if at all) bug will be on release. No-one has given an official release date other fall 2006 which covers 1/4 of the year. Theres only 2 places i trust for the correct information and thats http//www.lotr-europe.com and these forums. Codemasters havent let us down yet so just be patient. As for the period to which beta lasts, that is up to turbine essentially. DDO lasted about a month compared with Phantasy Star Blue Burst Online that last 3 months (was open beta). I would be prepared from anything from 1 month up to 4 months probably somewhere towards the lower end of that scale would be my guess though.

To keep yourself happy, think of launch date 2007.

If the first part was directed at me please forgive me if I misslead you. I know Beta's are for taking out bugs as I have done lots before.(betas that is) I was just wondering if I had missed something about the Gold date. and I hope that they (turbine) will do a great job with this game seeing that they have a power house to contend with right now. (for you who don't know its WoW 6million+ ppl playing it) Thanks for all your input and ya 2007 8-) eather way this game looks like it should ROCK |

I hope they will tell us when and how the beta is running.
I know that devs and gamestaffs dislike this, but everybody wants to get into the beta stage to take a sneak peek on how the game will look and "feel" like to decide if they play or not. In my opinion n open beta is better than a 14 day trial version, since the betatesters will help to find bugs. Its in a gamers nature to point and shout on an important bug/not working feature as it lessesn their gaming experience ![]() I hope i get an email when the beta is up to start, who not. And the term "release date" shouldnt exist in the stage of development and beta testing. Well you can say a baby is "launched" after 9 months but for games... |

As allways, we have the lovely cookie monster Satine to guide us with dates and updates
![]() As for launch : no date has been set because it depends on how the Beta goes and how good they are at fixing the bugs reported. The best we can hope for is a pre-2007 launch, but we should not dare hope. Patience is boring, but nessecary

Sadly from what I've seen of DDO they will go with the date the publishers want bugs or no bugs.
That said I'm sure it will be quick since the make up of classes etc is strangely alot like DDO, so really coding the world is the main job for them. Really looking forward to this game though like everyone else I read the book at age 10 so have been waiting 24 years to walk in hobbiton.
