Default LMA 2007 - Magpies Flying High

Roeder Leaves

Newcastle United manager Glenn Roeder has left the club. Roeder was Newcastle's saviour after a dismal run under Graeme Souness but he has turned down the permanent job. Rookie manager David Pollard has signed a two year deal with the club, and an interview he said he was 'ecstatic'.

SSN: Sky Sports News
DP: David Pollard

SSN: Congratulations, David. How do you feel?

DP: Great. I am a huge fan of this club and to manage them will be special and a dream come true for me.

SSN: Did you originally think you stood a chance

DP: Definitely not. Sam Allardyce, Steve Bruce and Martin O'Neill were in the running who are all very good managers so it was a surprise!

SSN: What are your aims for the season ahead?

DP: The chairman wants a top 8 finish, but I firmly believe we can finish in the top 6.

SSN: Any new arrivals?

DP: There will be. We looks strong in some areas but weak in others so new faces are a must.

SSN: How about players leaving?

DP: Well, I would like to think more about new signings than departures but I expect there will be a few.

SSN: Thanks for your time.

I've seen Roeder leave that club so many times now.

Anyway this should be good about time somebody did a decent update with Newcastle.

Btw what game is this on?

Edit How stupid of me,It says in the bloody title.

Thanks for all the replies, I am starting at Newcastle but of course my goal is twenty seasons so I won't stay there all the time.

Default July

1st:

Newcastle United today announced the club will play two friendlies during the close-season. River Plate of Argentina will travel to St. James' Park and former UEFA Cup opponents FC Basle will be guests in a friendly in two weeks time.

6th:

Collocini a Magpie!

Newcastle United have today announced that Argentinian defender Fabricio Collocini has joined the club. Deportivo will recieve £3.5m for Collocini who signs a four year contract and will wear the number 25 shirt at St. James' Park.

8th:

Owen off to Chelsea?

Newcastle have recieved a £20m bid from Chelsea for star striker Michael Owen. The blues are looking for a strike partner to new signing Andrei Shevchenko. However, Newcastle have stalled on a decision over the offer.

12th:

Newcastle United 3-1 River Plate
Luque 3,79
Collocini 11
Owen missed pen. 11
50,922 at St. James' Park

MOTM = Emre

''I think it's a great result today. Obviously Plate are a decent side and to have such a comfortable win and also the new boy Collocini scoring is great.''

16th:

Cannavaro joins new look Toon

Newcastle United have wrapped up their second signing of the summer with Napoli defender Paolo Cannavaro. Cannavaro joins for four years, and Newcastle will pay around £6m for the highly rated 25 year old.

17th:

Milner leaves for France

Newcastle United winger James Milner has signed for French side RC Lens. Milner, who joined from Leeds in 2004 for £3.6m, has signed for around £4.5m.

19th:

Newcastle United 0-0 FC Basle
46,395 at St. James' Park
MOTM = Emre

''Not much to say really. Nothing more than a fitness test and a run out for the new lads but we shaded the game which is good for morale.''

22nd:

Clark and Dyer on the move

Newcastle United duo Lee Clark and Kieron Dyer have left the club. Clark joins Scottish side Hibernian for £1m, whilst Dyer joins Spanish giants Deportivo for £11.6m on a three year deal.

29th:

Boumson joins A Madrid

Newcastle United defender Jean-Alain Boumsong has agreed to sign for Spanish side Atletico Madrid for £8.6m. Boumsong never settled in at Newcastle and couldn't produce the form that made Newcastle splash out o£8m for the former Rangers and Auxerre man.

31st:

Emre, Carr and Bramble leave St. James' whilst Pasqual joins

Newcastle United have lost both Emre and Titus Bramble. Emre has joined Premier League rivals Wigan Athletic for over £5m whilst Bramble moves to the Championship with Leeds United for an undisclosed fee. Stephen Carr meanwhile moves to Italy with Fiorentina in a swap deal. Newcastle have snapped up Manuel Pasqual for around £750,000 with Carr going the other way.

It's been a great month. We have got rid of alot of dead wood and are working to bring more in, whilst I think our defence is 10x better. Hopefully more will come in next month.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Any comments/advice appreciated.
